Acrylic & Texture paste. This was so much fun to do. / Painted by Ciska Aug 2007 Grass Trees in Townsville This was a very popular piece, at my first exhibition. The Grass Trees actually look like they are dancing. Sold Original.
NOW AVAILABLE IN PRINT After some weeks of developing this piece in my mind it finally just started to come together. As usual I went at the theme with something different in mind. What are we to say about how the divine eye sees our world or we may see the divine world in comparison to our own. This thought inspired a more surreal feel to the finished product. 2008 Copyright. All Rights Reserved to Mariam Muradian. This Outdoor Series was created during the time that my Feral Child and Feral Woman were emerging. I had a claustrophobic time being inside anywhere…even my own house. I could only BREATHE outside. So I spent many days and nights outside. I moved my studio outside. I painted outside only. This series of paintings, I am convinced, cannot live indoors because it will choke the life out of them and they will die; so this series is prepared with heavy heavy sealants to live outdoors forever. I place each one very carefully in their “chosen” place. Each must be a compliment in the truest sense of the word to nature. You can never out-create nature. The series can be vibrant and subdued at the same time, depending on its environment. So once each has found their interconnected, noncompetitive place in the landscape, I watch. I enjoy watching these outdoor paintings live their life! How they communicate and play and change with the light, the blooms, the seasons! It is wondrous to witness! Their subtle variations and transformations are always perfectly, proportionately in sync with nature’s doings. Truly awesome! My ART has reached a Nirvana of sort in this context. It feels so right in my soul. Now you know why I must LIVE outdoors and garden and paint! I have never before felt such passion, such joy, and such inspiration! I continue to paint for this series. I will continue to take photographs of these art pieces as they change, as different colored blooms come to surround them. You must see! Thank you for looking and reading about this ongoing process of healing in my life. Please do comment, as I would love to hear how this effects the Beholder. Thank you. Outdoor Art Series 1L Gate (description for context): to the immediate right of this piece is the trellis gate leading to the backyard gardens. And immediately right of that is the companion gate art piece flanking the other side. Growing and climbing up this art piece is ivy and a wisteria with silvery white/lavender flowers. To the left of the piece is a huge true red rhododendron bush/tree. And to the left of that, a twin royal purple rhododendron bush/tree. More toward the ground in this same area is green grass with assorted colorful wildflowers, and running perpendicular to the fence is a bed of large white daisies/yellow centers and yellow tulips. I am just so grateful that I can SEE! That my vision returned from blindness, along with my color vision. That I am alive at all! A miracle and a blessing! See the others in the series /

I’ve been experimenting and would like to know your thoughts on this. This started out as a ‘yellow toned’ infrared imaged. I put it through a CS2 Plug-in called “Topaz Adjust” – it does a sort of HDR thing. Then I created about 5 layer masks to get the different colours and painted them in. What do you think??
An old infrared image – just tried some new processing things I’ve picked up over the last year or so. Location: Little Pelican, Lake Macquarie, NSW.
Acrylic painting. This painting was inspired by the lake that we visit in Northern California. The trees are so thick and there are layers and layers. I would love to work on more like this and get a better feel for the trees, but for now I enjoyed finding a way to show the beautiful pines as the caught a Moment of Sun. / / /
Another one of Willowmavin, a beautiful area near where I live. In this pastel painting I tried to convey the warmth and beauty of the early evening, and the slight breeze that just moved the grasses. A lovely local lady bought this work – she took it home, laid it on the bed while deciding where to hang it, her husband arrives, sits on the bed AND THE PAINTING, and breaks the glass! Fortunately no damage to the actual painting, not so sure about the husband!! Pastel on Colourfix Pastel Paper 53cm X 43cm Original SOLD

“Show me your garden and I shall tell you what you are.” ~ ALFRED AUSTIN This is my Secret Garden. My work of the last 2 years has culminated at this point. This piece is so very complex, but I will try to explain it to you. This is me. I am from the earth, of the earth, striving to save the earth. She is me, I am her. I live in the country on Kangaroo Island (Australia), surrounded by nature. I have wild kangaroos in my front yard every night, koalas in my trees, and my son Henley and I walk every day, and celebrate the amazing place we live. This nature has engulfed my being. On average, I have been taking about 100 images with my Canon PowerShot camera every single day for the past two years. Macro bugs, macro wildflowers, skies, dead trees, birds, flowers, shells, leaves, images from my orchard, burnt trees from the bushfires, dried up drought-affected dam bases, kangaroos, and of course, my son Henley. So many images have gone into this one piece. There are two worlds here. The abundant and thriving; and the dying, the gone forever. Our house was surrounded by devastating bushfires in Dec 2007 – a time I will never forget. Nothing but smoke could be seen out the windows. This land is vulnerable and changing for the worse every year as a result of Global Warming. It is an issue so very close to my heart because it is on my doorstep. What will this world be like for my child and all the children of now? Famine, drought, heat waves, extreme weather patterns and natural catastrophes, massive bushfires, more war, no jobs, no money, more disease, more animals extinct forever, less trees and rainforests, less farmers, less food. We are seeing it now. Something has to be done. My forehead shows a migraine I recently had during a heatwave. It felt like a penetrating light was entering my eye and illuminating half of my brain before exiting at the base of my skull where the vision centre of the brain is. It was very powerful to me. Vision. Have the vision before the world dies. Mother Earth is dying, as is half of me. What are you doing to help the earth survive? It’s up to our generation, or there will be nothing left. Your thoughts on this topic are most welcome….
