This shot is taken in the north of Rwanda near the DR Congo border. It showcases the absurd beauty of this broken land. Known as the land of one thousand hills Rwanda is bursting at the seams. This shots is part of the ‘world’s most expensive card’ promotion initiated by John Robb. It has raised close to $700 AUD so far.
Large oak tree in California….....just breaking buds in spring. All the original limbs have broken off with age and snow load. These limbs are all secondary growth.

About and hour and a half south of Melbourne lies Inverloch. A fishing and boating town it is surrounded by green rolling hills and beautiful farmland. What do you call the light that permanently imprints itself into the deepest corner of your cerebral real estate? Just a memorable one, divine, sublime? The star was going down fast, as it was just a matter of ‘to get it over and done with‘ a daily sunset routine – until that moment. Like it was switched on by some all powerful hand residing somewhere in the center of a kingdom of light, the sunbeam reached across the valley, bringing all the associated attributes with it, like joy and warmth, just for a few moments, before disappearing altogether. The blue cold haze drowned the beautiful Hawkes Bay valley, but not before the last ray of sun got there first. I was standing in awe … for a while in fact, still in disbelief. Review button and LCD screen confirmed it did happen. Sweet. I’ll treasure selfishly the melody of breeze passing through the treetops, the smell of golden grass and feel of fallen leafs under my feet. Not to worry, I left something to share with you. Here it is.

Slioch, and Loch Maree. (I think it is worth viewing larger!) This is one of my favourites for many reasons, but mainly due to the CD which was playing in the car as I toured the area – Long Distance, by Runrig. Such an inspirational band for me over the years…..... As such, I saved this until last of my images from my Scottish foray. I hope you have enjoyed viewing them over the last month or so. For now, its back to scratching what I can from the English landscape until May 2009, when, hopefully, there will be a few more surprises presented on RB. My next projects, involve a bit of experimental stuff, and more wildlife work, so, if I dont catch up with you over the festive period, please enjoy yours, and I hope 2009 is a bit brighter than the tail end of 2008 has been for many. All the best / Graeme

Moulton barn on Mormon Row was one of them. I stopped by the barn a couple of times, took some shots and my many visits finally paid off when I saw a buffalo herd grazing peacefully very close to the barn. I waited a little bit for them to come close enough so I could include one of them in this shot. / This beautiful, old homestead brings memories of the past but a wild buffalo roaming free makes it even more special. Taken in Grand Tetons National Park, Wyoming, USA Canon XSi w/18-55mm lens, f/6.3, 1/250 sec, ISO-200, 36mm.
The Moulton Barn, Mormon Row, Teton National Park, Jackson, Wyoming, USA. I got up early for this one, I had travelled thousands of miles to see it, had only one morning to get my shot in the bag – and what did I find ? / A film crew shooting an advert ! Along with a battalion of other photographers, I was champing at the ‘bit’, since we weren’t allowed to shoot in case we captured the models – male and female – the whole darned thing was so artificial !! So, when there was a lull in shooting, I crept under a bush and hastily ‘snapped’ my shot. Maybe I should pursue a career in the ‘Paparazzi ??!!! Shot on my Canon EOS 40D with polarising filter attached, mounted very hastily on my tripod, Canon efs 18-55mm lens set at 45mm, underexposed by half a stop, f 27, 1/20 sec, auto wb, iso 100, RAW file developed as much as possible in Adobe Camera Raw, then in PS CS3, selective Levels/Curves, saturation of colours achieved with LAB colour, then the tiniest amount of Orton applied, to ‘pop’ the textures of the wood and grass. The Faerie pools are very photogenic, and I like them best on a ‘bad’ weather day, when you can attempt to capture the mood of the surrounding dark and brooding mountains. This view is looking towards a famous climb, called “Stovepipe Gully”. / The rocks are slippery, not an easy place to set up a tripod, and I have been observed by more sane folk than myself, crawling on hands and knees for the best vantage point ! / There is a trail/walk alongside the burn and various pools that goes quite some way into the hills, amidst very grandiose scenery….....but prepare for wet feet, the ground is amazingly boggy here …...... and those rocks you have to clamber over to get your shot ? EXTRA slippery !! This is a three RAW HDR, shot on my Canon EOS 40D, mounted on the tripod, polariser fitted, to lose two stops of light for the blur effect, f27, underexposed by half a stop, then a +2EV and -2EV from that reading, iso 100, auto wb, processed in Photomatix, then in Adobe CS3 with various tweaks to colours etc., and where the water was burned out by the HDR process, layered in parts of the original 0EV file.
