Caution: Contains high geek content As most people who run their own websites will know, it’s always kind of interesting to figure out what people were looking for when they found your sites. Like many people I do the usual things, I use Google’s webmaster tools, I use Google Analytics, I use web server log analysis tools, etc… So, when a friend started to play with a graph approach to search term analysis, I was fascinated by this approach. Following his lead I modified some code that I had to take a graph approach and then I took it a step further by using GraphViz to graphically represent the connections between words in the queries. This evening I realised that GraphViz did SVG and that I could include links and that this meant I could have a sort of active representation of the interconnectedness of the words that result in people finding my photography. The result of all of this is my new clickable search term interconnectedness graph thingy. No, I’m not 100% sure exactly how useful this is either. But I’m feeling very Dirk Gently right now. ;-)
