“Wisdom doesn’t automatically come with old age. Nothing does – except wrinkles. It’s true, some wines improve with age. But only if the grapes were good in the first place.” / - Abigail Van Buren Rymill Coonawarra Winery . On Thursday my husband and I drove up to Boise to bring home 2000 pounds of grapes. After meeting the grower who we were purchasing the cab/merlot grapes from, he offered for us to go up to his vineyard and pick as many buckets of tempranillo grapes as we wanted. I’m excited to see how this year turns out!

From Aesop’s Fables: A famished Fox crept into a vineyard where he spied a cluster of ripe, luscious grapes draped high upon the arbor. He took a run and a jump, and just missed the bunch. Again and again he tried to reach the tasty prize, but with no greater success. At last he had to admit defeat and he walked away muttering to himself, “What does it matter, I’m sure those grapes are sour anyway!” Moral: It is easy to despise what you cannot have.
