  • View of Newton’s statue that stands in Grantham, Lincolnshire. /   /

  • Detail of a climbing frame at Belton Park in Lincolnshire in England. /   /

  • This old fashioned fair ground ride comes to Grantham a couple of times a year, when they close the main street to traffic and let the fair take over. I have lots of good nightime photos of various rides, but this is my all time favorite as I’ve actually sold five copies of this image to various people who live locally.

  • Taken at 4am in Grantham whilst walking the dog. Have you ever noticed that traffic lights always seem to be green when nobody needs them and red when everybody’s there.

  • This is a simple hand held grab shot taken out of my kitchen window, It’s completely unaltered as I’m going to put it in the ‘As Is’ group gallery. The lens flare was difficult to avoid as I didn’t have much room to manoeuvre and I realised quite quickly that … well it kinda looked quite good… so I made it as big as I could. There is another version of this image in my gallery with an accurate simulation of the camera’s HUD display superimposed over the shot.

  • The Golden Angel over the entrance to the Angel & Royal Hotel in Grantham.

  • It had been a cold wet dreary day when my Lowepro AW100 camera bag had stayed on my back most of the afternoon, wandering around the shops with my girlfriend, hoping to take some pictures of the Christmas lights outside the town hall (with no joy) but 100 yards from home I was presented with this view of the sunset… Pure gold!

  • Creeping around church graveyards at night is becoming a strange passion of mine, sometimes you can get some good shots…But I swear I heard organ music coming from the church when I took this shot… kinda spooked me a bit!

  • St Wulframs vicarage.

  • Belton House, Lincolnshire.

  • The Grantham canal ambles for 33 miles between Grantham and Nottingham, passing through some beautiful farmland and countryside. It was once a major commercial route for transporting goods between the two towns, but with the advent of the railways its commercial viability began a decline. It was officially closed in 1936, though it had been unused for the 10 years preceding the closure and had lain unloved and mostly forgotten for over 80 years. Some stretches are completely dry, locks have rotted away and trees overhang and completely block it in many places. / / Well, all that’s about to change; this fella is part of the dredging operation designed to reopen the canal for leisure traffic. It’s a huge project and has taken over 30 years to organise. Can you imagine the amount of sludge they have to dig out of that thing? / / I’ve always been passionate about our English countryside and heritage, so it’s wonderful to see it being restored like this.

  • A view across the roof tops of Grantham town, belies the hustle and bustle, crime, poverty and desperation apparent on the streets below.

  • Town hall in Grantham Lincolnshire

  • 4:40 am and I’m thinking about calling it a night when I look out the window and see that the rising sun is painting the sky with some fantastic colours. Muttering something to myself about sleeping when I’m dead, I grabbed my trusty Nikon D200 and Mono-pod and rushed out to the door and through the streets to the local town hall, which is a west facing colonial style building which is usually lit up at night, and has some nice trees with a statue of Sir Isaac Newton out front (he was born round here somewhere). A friendly council worker who was emptying the bins outside the town hall offered to move his rather unattractive dust cart out of the way and I was all set… Click…Click…click!

  • Looking east across Grantham to a storm out in the North Sea.

  • Detail of a tree in the grounds of Belton House, Lincolnshire.

  • Just another Saturday in Grantham…this view is looking east across the ASDA car park towards st Wulframs church.

  • Is there one at either end?
