He seemed to enjoy posing for me. / / His luxurious flaxen mane an the coppery hue of the eyelashes are true natural beauties. His amber eyes reflect a kind spirit. With a friendly push of his velvety muzzle he asked me for carrots. / / When I bade him good-bye, he swayed his graceful neck and flowing mane and happily trotted back to his red barn.” / / / Artist statement / My photographs are not enhanced; they represent the true nature and colours of the subjects as captured by the lens. • “The gloss in each grain shows a rainbow of colours unthinkable of in a corncob. Each grain has its own peculiar pattern with an intrinsic design in it. Scintillating like polished round marbles, they exude life and vibrancy. Golden hues, brown, black dissolving into copper, mauve turning into magenta, pink mixed with orange … myriad combinations bring to life the glorious colours of Indian Corn. / / Each grain weaves a pattern in a tapestry meticulously designed. Piled casually upon each other on a farm stand, these corncobs make a delightful array of surprising beauty.” / / / Read more about Indian Corn in my written article: / / Indian Corn- Nature’s Kaleidoscope.

  • “This artwork of Nature made me halt at a farm stand to contemplate it. Its vibrant red colour and the clean round shape was a beauty in itself. Yet, it was the tip which I found most whimsical. With black stripes running away from it like a star, the tip made a pretty design at the bottom of the pumpkin.” / / / Artist statement / My photographs are not enhanced; they represent the true nature and colours of the subjects as captured by the lens. • “Autumn brings along a radiant tapestry of harvest crops. Walking along the many farm stands, I indulge myself in the sheer presence of these simple, yet unbelievably beautiful vegetables and fruits. Amidst glorious pumpkins in the colours of rainbow, gorgeous strawberries and glossy gourds, the exquisite patterns and colours of Indian Corn stand out. / / Piled casually upon each other in baskets, the corn ears make a delightful array of vibrant beauty. Gleaming like tiny jewels, each corn grain bears a distinctive colour. Golden hues, brown turning into copper, mauve turning into magenta, chartreuse, pink mixed with orange, pure white and pitch black. Each grain weaves a pattern meticulously designed. / / I find inspiration in the simple elements of Nature by discovering, in a closer approach, their elaborated forms, their patterns and intricacies, their sheer beauty. They teach me a lesson on survival, too. The colour of each Indian Corn grain is goverened by genes. The pigment may aid in the defense against diseases, hence, a wide array of colours in a single corn ear raises the chances of survival. / / As myriad colours happen in a single corn ear, each one is unique in its design. Like a miraculous tapestry, Indian Corn humbly offers its beauty to my delight “ / / / / Artist statement / My photographs are not enhanced; they represent the true nature and colours of the subjects as captured by the lens. Let us support the police task force that enforces the law protecting pets from cruel situations. “Let us be creative and help find a healthy alternative to logging and the depletion of natural habitats. • Conservation and Change

/ / / I created the group Art for Conservation to host compassionate, talented and generous members who support conservation and animal rescue organisations with sales proceeds from their artwork. / / If we want a change, we need to work towards it. No deed is too small, no voice is too weak, no donation is too little, no effort goes in vain. Educating the general public about conservation issues, about species in the brink of extinction, about healthy earth-friendly habits, about animal welfare, about humane wildlife management, about the fragility of eco-systems and about a responsible natural citizenship, sparks ingenuity and fosters new ideas. / / Take a moment to enjoy and be inspired by the splendid art featured in this gallery, learn what the artist conveys through the images and narrative, visit their supported charities and consider purchasing a fine piece of art knowing that you will be aiding a good cause. / / Enter the gallery >here / / Browse the list of conservation organisations supported by the artists in this group to learn about concerning issues round the world >here. / / This group and the list of supported conservation organisations are further promoted by me on the Web through my conservation works. / / Globalisation enables us to act together in a cohesive way unthinkable of time ago. Let us take advantage of this opportunity to generate a positive change. / / / / Thank you / / Carmen / Creator of Art for Conservation / / /

  • Taken with a Konika Minolta P&S. 639 views as of Nov. ‘09 I think this photo really demonstrates the feeling of the little mining town of Real del Monte in the state of Hidalgo Mexico. / El Real is built at 9000 ft (2,700 meters) above sea level, so it is nearly always in the clouds. It has some of the oldest gold and silver mines in Mexico and claims such great achievements as being the “Cuna del Futbol en Mexico”, (The birthplace of Soccer in Mexico) and home to the northern hemisphere’s first labor strike by New Spain’s first miner’s union which ironically was organized by the Spanish Virey who owned the rights to the mines. It has been an active mining center for 5 centuries and is still home to many active silver smiths. El Real is full of steep streets, and stairways where streets are impossible, and is scattered with intricate English inspired stonework in every nook and cranny. If you visit El Real del Monte, don’t leave without tasting several of the local Pastes which are an adaptation of the cornish Pasties brought over by the English Companies that ran the mines for many years. There’s so much more to say about this little known Mexican town, so please follow this LINK for more information. Also see Guided by a Star And My written work The 3 Windows /
