Single tree I saw that I found interesting. This tree stood alone out in the open without any other trees near it.

Two of these lighthouses once graced the outer ends of the parking area of the S.S. Grandview Hotel’s lot. I’m unsure of their status, but I don’t hold much hope that they survived the blaze which destroyed the Hotel proper. For hte history of the Hotel please imy image entitled: “Ship of the Alleghenies/S.S. Grand View Hotel”.
County Road D in Bayfield County, Wisconsin south of Grandview, Wisconsin.
The Ship first set sail on May 29, 1932. It was built by a Dutch immigrant named Herbert Paulson. Paulsen built the ship around the structure of the original Grand View Hotel. The view from the site had been earlier described as “one of the most magnificant views on the North American continent”. The establishment was to enjoy a number of sucessful years, but this was not to last. When the Pennsylvania Turnpike opened on October 1, 1940, it spelled the beginning of the end for the S.S. Grandview. / Paulsen ran the business as best as he could until his death in 1973. The property was sold to Jack and Mary Loya for the price of $70,000 a few years later. To be continued…
