  • Probably the best man to ever walk the face of the earth… my grandfather. This picture was taken while I was on vacation visiting him up north for the summer. Just an all around happy man, the best there is. This is by far my most favorite picture I’ve ever taken.

  • my grandparents to the side, in CT where they had their honeymoon almost 50 years ago. i liked having the flower wall in focused..

  • This old shed was part of my husband’s great grand parents property on the farm in Tumut. / I love the country feel of it and I can’t wait to get back there and take a shot of this in IR. We’ll be visiting just after Christmas and I’m already planning the shots I want to take…can’t wait.

  • Caleb Wade, Maria Dryfhout’s brand new grandson, came into the world today. I designed this image in his honor to celebrate his arrival. To soften the image and to make it gentler in appearance, I applied the dry brush filter and since Maria’s grandson made his debut in March, I thought I’d add a sprig of shamrock. Caleb, welcome to the flock!

  • The grand parents indulge at my nephew’s first birthday. I love their transfixed expressions and all the age driven lines, which make them fascinating subjects.

  • Your talent your trust your inspiration conversations the hardship the laughs the shitty bits the INTENSE bits the meanings the depth the soul & especially the spunk Everyone’s got some of that :-P XXXXXXXX

  • It was spring break and the zoo was filled with grandparents with their grandchildren. I don’t know who enjoyed the day more, my grandson Sebastian or me. We laughed with the chimps; we sang with the birds; we stopped in wonder and amazement to watch the mountain lion pacing in his enclosure, just inches away from us with only a glass wall to separate us. It was a glorious day filled with hot dogs, cotton candy, and the wonders of spring. Truly, our grandchildren make us young again! I’m blessed!

  • This photo is my Maternal Family – my great-grandparents had 8 children, 2 sets of twins that survived and one set that sadly didn’t and 2 boys that were not twins. My Great Uncle Sonny the 2nd eldest on the left has written a book of the Joscelyne family (Joscelyne’s Tales of Old Leigh and Chalkwell by Arthur Joscelyne) and has traced the family tree back to BC!! My Nan was one set of the girl twins on the left…..I loved my family and so proud of all that was achieved over the years – we even had our own little triangle of beach at Old Leigh-on-Sea in Essex which my Great Grandfather spent their savings on – it was to later basically bring him misery due to the Council! My Great Great Aunt and Great Grandad ran changing rooms on the beach and charged for the use of and my Great Uncle ferried yachtsmen out to their boats (for a charge of course!) He and my other G.Uncle also took their boats out for the DDay Landings. Out of the other set of Twins my Great Aunt died in her 30s but most of them lived until their mid-80’s and 90’s. This was about 1913 or very near. One of my Favourite photos of another Era! This is the orginal photo my dad has made very slight repairs in his dark room a few years back but apart from that pretty much As Is!

  • TTV – This is the old farmhouse my grandparents lived in when i was a wee tot!! it’s days are almost over, so glad i got to take these final photos of my family memories. It now pretty much serves as a scratching post for cattle and they have made it a lot more tattered and than it is in this photo. White Star, Saskatchewan TTV frame courtesy DLSdesigns on flickr.

  • This windmill sits in the pasture between my house and my mother’s. Other than an old well, it is about the only remnant left of the original homestead. I so enjoy this one last piece of history and the slight creaking sound it makes when the blades painstakingly rotate in the wind. It is showing its age by the sound of metal against metal and its lack of usefulness. That is the wonderful thing about human beings. We never stop being useful, even as we age. There is always some way we can pray, encourage, model and love those God puts in our lives, even when our family and peer group shrink because of death. One more empty chair at Thanksgiving and Christmas. I think of my grandmother who is now 96 years old. She has one brother left out of 7 siblings and one by one she watches her friends die. She lost a daughter who was only 4 years old, her husband and now her oldest son, my dad. She feels like she is a relic and questions daily her usefulness, yet just like this windmill, she still stands. She is surrounded by death, but chooses to surround herself with life as much as possible. She has her own garden, grows the best tomatoes around and lovingly cares for her flowers. She prays daily for her grandchildren and great-grand children, that they will find God and be happy. Never believe that you are of no use, no matter your age, health, or trials. I tell grandma that God still has a use for her or she would not still be here. The same is true for all of us. Viola Evelyn you are an amazing woman and this photo is a tribute to you. Thank you for all you have taught me; the most important thing being that no matter what happens and no matter who you lose, you cannot stop living your life. You must go on. I love you grandma.

  • It has been impossibly hot and humid here this week, so the other night I decided to take a long walk to get a bit of fresh air. I happened upon this carnival, where there were lots of interesting people and things. Here I saw a small group of parents and grandparents watching over the kids…. • This gorgeous tiger hung for decades in my Grandparents’ house. All of the grandchildren were afraid of him…including me. Now he’s mine and watches over the upstairs bathroom. I wish I knew where he came from. His teeth aren’t too tiger-like. But he’s ferocious enough to keep bathroom visitors in line…LOL Slightly edited. /

  • A shot of an old photo of my grandparents house which they lived in for over 50 years. I knew every nook & cranny of this house and it holds some wonderful memories… I still have dreams about it every now & then … I found this old childrens book from my mums childhood & thought the wording would make a poignant backdrop. They lived in Victoria Park, Perth, Western Australia / Camera – Nikon D90

  • This photograph of my grandparents and friends was in my aunt’s photo album that my cousin let me scan for posterity. My grandparents are the two people just to the right of the fellow in the center. I love this photograph because of the wonderful composition and reflections. I took the color out of two texture layers and put them on top of the black and white photograph. / Featured in “TONE IT DOWN”!
