Black Friday and the girls decided to head out at 4AM to shop and I headed for the Grand Canyon to watch the sunrise. Even though it was 15 and windy I stll think got the better end of the deal.

A Wave

It’s really an amazing story of flowering creative courage. And three (3.!) while writing the poem the image of the painting “A Wave” just slid deeply into me deep and quiet as it just guided the poem’s writing the mysterious whole way. Thank you Jarko for your 19 years of work inspired by yet another work. / And so, as Jarko states in the images description: oil on canvas 190×120cm I’ve used “A Wave” by Ivan Aiwazovsky as a model. As defined by the United States Geological Survey, it begins immediately below Tuolumne Meadows and ends immediately above Hetch Hetchy Valley. / The Tuolumne River runs as a somewhat wavy line from east to west. It originates in the high-altitude flatlands of Tuolumne Meadows, just west of the Sierra Nevada’s main divide.

The Grand Teton is truly as remarkable as it seems in images, and every shift in the weather or season shows yet another side of it many facets. I had driven by the curve of bleached grass many times, and finally called to get permission to drive onto the private property to take this shot. Canon 40D, 22, 1/13, focal length 60mm. This Photo I took before sunset on the south rim of the grand canyon. I went to Pima point which is near heremits rest for this shot! Heard about hopi was great for sunset but If you ask me Pima point or mohavee are the better ones and you are more private there! regards, / Michael

Taken in Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming, USA. Pretty much a tourist snapshot of the Falls, which I thought I would share with you ! / A rather crowded place, justifiably so, who wouldn’t want to see this sight ? The Canyon has some amazing colours, and I found the best time was towards evening to be viewed at it’s best. The vertiginous slopes are very loose and crumbly, and I wondered how those trees maintain their perilous foothold !! Shot on a Canon EOS 40D, polariser, tripod, f22, 1/3 sec, iso 100, auto wb, RAW file processed in PS CS3, levels/curves/selective colour adjustments.
