This year we had our first Edwards Family reunion, in honor of my parents. My grandmother, here is 92 years old. This is a photograph that has been manipulated in photoshop to look like a graphite drawing, and the results are impressive. This is a picture of my grandmother, who is now in his 90’s. She lives with my grandfather in a small town on a State Highway that leads right in front of thier house. Every since I was a child, they have sat on the porch of thier home and waved to the passers by, no matter what the weather. When someone would talk about going to some town along that highway, I would ask, “Did you see my grandpa and grandma?” Most of the time they would remember them and I would get a good laugh and a smile from it. In recent years due to failing health, the summer being warm and winters days to cold for them they have sat there less and less. / On sundays as I go to church i pass thier house and don’t always stop. Finally my grandma said to me, “If you can’t stop could you at least honk your horn?” / Grandpa said, “I may not be able to see you but I’ll know you were thinking of us!” /
Flappers emerged in 1926. Flapper fashion embraced all things and styles modern. Here, my Maternal Grandmother AKA Grammy, in the middle, is seen as a fashionable flapper with short sleek hair, a shorter than average shapeless shift dress, and a chest as flat as a board! Known to smoke with a long cigarette holder, flapper’s exposed thier limbs and epitomised the spirit of a reckless rebel who danced the nights away in the Jazz Age. Grammy was one of the biggest life mentor’s that I had growing up as a young child. My parent’s divorced when I was six years old. Soon after, we went to live with Grammy and Poppop. My Mother at the time was desperately trying to find herself now alone and starting a whole new lifestyle. She went on to become a Model at Joseph Banks and Biddle, while Grammy took care of my brother and I. Grammy instilled a strong sense of right and wrong in me. She was one of the fairest people that I have ever met! She taught me manners, influenced me by having so many dear friends and when I got into trouble would talk to me as if I was an adult! When I did get into trouble, I would always beg her not to tell my Mom. She did that for both myself and my Mom, knowing that my Mom was burdened with a stressful new beginning. Grammy died from lung cancer when I was 18 and she was 68. To this day, I can’t remember much of her funeral service. My Mom said I was a total wreck. I suppose my brain has blocked it out due to the horrible sadness that I felt. However, I know that Gram is with me in spirit! I have had several incredible spiritual occasions, which reinforces that! My Mother and I commemorate Grammy every year, by going to her gravesite, crying together, while putting our hands on her burial stone. We both have super glued 14k gold hearts into the etchings of her grave, so that a part of us will always be with her at her last place of rest on Earth as a human form.
This is a picture of my grammy taken with my Kodak Brownie Model A. Pictures of it can be seen in my art gallery. I was so pleased when this tiny little box of a camera actually took pictures. <3>

Ah, how time flies! This picture dates back to Christmas of 1963. I was 6 years old and my brother, Chuck, was 9. We are pictured here with our Great Grandmother, Nana, AKA, Elizabeth Darlington Walter, when we lived in Dilworthtown, Pennsylvania. My Nana was an incredible seamstress. To this day, I still have a beautiful old table cloth that she carefully stitched into beautiful patterns, that would make great fractal art! In addition, I have a whole boxful of hankerchiefs. placemats and other various things that she handcrafted. I’m not sure, but it is more than likely that the clothes I am wearing in this picture were made by Nana, as she used to make me fringed dresses and all kinds of outfits. In my bedroom, I have a slip hanging on an old wood hanger that belonged to my Grammy, Nana’s Daughter, which I cherish, because it is full of lace and so intricate. I also have my Mom’s old Shirley Temple Doll, who is wearing a dress and even lacy underwear that Nana made for my Mom. Unfortunately, Mom decided to cut Shirleys locks off, however, I have styled her hair for her, so she looks a little bit better! Nana was quite a fiesty woman and lived to be 93 years old. “I say what I mean and mean what I say,” would be a good description of Nana. About a month ago, I went and pulled up the grass that was covering her grave along with all of my other relatives in Friend’s Cemetary in West Chester, Pennyslvania. It felt good to do that, because I cherish those who were once in my life. They all taught me so much when I was just a wee little tot! Their spirit remains within me, strong and lively. I feel very spiritual and at great peace when I am at the graveyard, in the quiet and stillness of Mother Nature, which surrounds their gravestones. This one is for you dear Nana!

This is a plein-air painted image of an actual barn in Dial, Georgia. The title for the image was taken from a sign that hung on the side of the barn. The original painting was sold to the Hurder family.
