In Great Basin National Park in Nevada you can take a short hike to these pine trees. We got there as the sun set and time was short, but I liked this one.
Something a little less spooky before bedtime!! dont want nightmares now do we?, found this wood at the weekend, its actually part of a support for a deer shelter, you will see later, thought it made an interesting shot.
second in “natures macro canvas” challenge, pretty pine tree bark featured in “12 great features” group top 10 “12 great features” group challenge, visual textures featured in “12 great features” group lovely trails carved into a local tree / www.galleriamancuso.com
This photograph was taken inside a dead tree which has been lying on the ground for many years, you can get right inside as i did to take this picture, so you can imagine the size of theis thing?? full of cobb webs and creepy crawlies, not a nice place to be but i think it has made a good photo?
This is Chatsworth House in the Peak District, probably the most photographed scene ever of this place with the bridge, i wanted to do this in colour but it was a slightly misty day, and did not look right so i opted for the old sepia look ans added a touch of film grain. Hope you like it.

A Digtial Masterpeice capturing history forever within its growth rings, its diameter OVER 310.5 cm (32ft) measured whilst it was standing 19 yrs before it fell in cyclone Larry!, this tree was an awsome sight in Life and is an awesome sight in Death! / Giving life after death, Fungi, moss, insects and other small Rainforest wildlife thrive within its ancient contours. / This cross section of a Queensland Kauri can be found in the township of Milla Milla on the Tablelands of North Queensland Australia. Printed as a large poster 118.9 cm it is still smaller then life size!!!

Another rural Leicestershire image – at least it isnt Oilseed Rape, Wheat, Barley or Grass – I found something else instead! The location is just to the East of Barkby on the Eastern side of Leicester. The light on the oats, is mainly down to a recently finished bout of fine drizzle, and the droplets reflecting the sun breaking through.
Taken between Peatling Parva and Willoughby Waterlees, I found myself green laning in the dark, in uncharted territory this evening, and quite an adventure it turned out to be – some potentially unusual views to be taken advantage of when the light is different – heres hoping I can find the track again!
The Stag was once drinking from a pool and admiring the noble figure he made there. “Ah,” said he, “where can you see such noble horns as these, with such antlers! I wish I had legs more worthy to bear such a noble crown; it is a pity they are so slim and slight.” At that moment a Hunter approached and sent an arrow / whistling after him. Away bounded the Stag, and soon, by the aid of his nimble legs, was nearly out of sight of the Hunter; but not noticing where he was going, he passed under some trees with branches growing low down in which his antlers were caught, so that the Hunter had time to come up. “Alas! alas!” cried the Stag: We often despise what is most useful to us
Just wanted to see how long of a title I could have. / Taken near Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, July 9th, 2008. MY BUBBLESITE
An old train bridge near Pyalong (North of Melbourne, Australia). Shot with red filter on traditional infrared film which was then processed to emphasize the grain structure. The image itself was duo-toned to approximate the look of a traditional sepia/selenium split toning, which seems to go well with the texture of the wood and the foggy surroundings.
(The remains of this fallen “soldier” were splintered apart and the undulating grains were very appealing to me. I added some gradient colour just for a little interest.) “If a tree falls in a forest and no one is around to hear it, does it make a sound?” / This is a philosophical riddle that raises questions regarding observation and knowledge of reality. George Berkeley’s dictum was “to be, is to be perceived.“ / In an article in the Scientific American dating all the way back to Apr 5, 1884, they examined the question and came up with this answer: / “Sound is vibration, transmitted to our senses through the mechanism of the ear, and recognized as sound only at our nerve centers. The falling of the tree or any other disturbance will produce vibration of the air. If there be no ears to hear, there will be no sound.” / It follows then, that if you can’t see me, I’m not here. Hmmm. / PLEASE VIEW LARGE! /
This is a rather wide side street in Brunswick, Victoria. I was up in the northern suburbs of Melbourne to check out a local exhibition. Few of us took a seat on the kerb, I looked to my right and saw this ahead of me. Instantly that street light reminded me of a secret meeting place, of people who don’t quite want to be noticed. Nothing sinister going on here, just a quiet place to do what you have to do… or is there? What’s that moving in the shadows over there…?... Shot in colour, turned monochrome, constrast increase and added grain to aid the mood of this one. Canon 50D / 18 – 55, 58mm / f5.6, 1/2 sec, ISO 1600 MCN: CJG46-VCBVC-XRXUJ
