  • This sign has fascinated me for many years. For as long as I can remember, it has always been edited by members of the public to read ‘Footscrayzy’. Every now and then the council come along and clean it off or replace the sign – then within a few weeks it appears again. Usually it’s handwritten, but now it seems that stencilling is quicker and easier than hand scribing. Cnr Orford Road and Waverley Street, Essendon, VIC

I recently received a comment on this photo in flickr from someone who has taken a more recent shot of the blue girl. This is what she looks like now / This little alleyway is popular with local graffiti artists, and regularly goes through updates so I’m sure this visage is no longer quite the same now! I’d love to transport myself back there now and see what stands in its place. / Modifications with Gimp.

  • Trying to make a simple design pointing to the 4 main elements of hip hop. If it was not for hip hop, id never have done graffiti. If I didn’t enjoy graffiti so much I doubt id be doing design today. / But I dont care much for most hip hop these days….but pay respect to the 80s stuff always cos it meant so much to me.

  • Brown Eyed Susan Painted as Graffiti on a Brick Wall, courtesy of a Redfield Plugin. I did a t-shirt with the same design. The whole idea behind the theme is to honor all of those beautiful designs that get painted on city walls. A lot of them get painted over, but hopefully some of those artists go on to have their work recognized later as legitimate artists. !http://images-2.redbubble.net/img/art/backingcolor:white/product:greeting-card/view:preview/2667213-2-graffiti-on-the-bricks.jpg!

  • Best viewed large….. A well-known alley way in Melbourne (to photographers especially). I thought the mannequin in the window looked so incongruous amid the rubbish and graffiti and general grunginess of the scene. There were even a few interesting characters just out of frame when I took this – I think they were indulging in some ‘chemical entertainment’! / HDR created with tonal adjustment. Added texture layers. / Nikon D700 with 24 – 70 mm lens.
