  • This tree is another in my series of graffiti trees that I photographed in Topanga State Forest in Los Angeles, CA. Primitive images particularily on trees are reminiscent of paleolithic cave paintings. This type of iconography has been seen in the cave of Lascaux that is particularily fascinating for those interested in prehistoric art. The icons are particulary well defined on this tree. /

  • She emerged from my sketch book

  • caught in the act! Good thing he was only writing with light. Light painting. Straight out of the camera with no editing or post-processing.

  • I caught this kimono clad Japanese girls going crazy with spray can downtown. Luckily I caught it on film…. This was all done by hand with a technique known as light painting. This graffiti was hand drawn and not traced. Some ‘drips’ were added for effect. A 6 inch neon light was used for the main graffiti and an LED light was used for the drips. The ‘fiz-iks’ logo in the bottom right is also doen with light and created in camera. I used a homemade softbox with a stencil to get these results. I chose red and blue for the 2 flashes i fired off to simulate police lights. Model: Yoko / Strobist and light painter: Me

  • Inspired by one of those mechanical solar system things, an “Orrery” I believe. / Either way, I thought it made for a cool design. :) Light t-shirt version.

  • First this tiger entered my house with out an invitation and after much coaxing he decided to leave but not before he marked up my walls with this graffiti… Strobist info:1 yellow gelled SB-25 fired to the wall(left) at 1/16 and one amber gelled SB-25 with a 6 inch gobo fired to the tiger at 1/8. Other info: Straight out of a Canon 400D with no post processing or editing. The “graffiti” was done with an LED light and the spray can is actually toilet cleaner.

  • Probably the last of the\is series that I will upload to RB. This was a very fun series to do. Straight form the camera. The purple was done with a gelled flash fired manually @ 1/4 and the writing was done with a bllue LED light. • Art on a wall. Good graffiti is fun to come across. It’s often somewhat washed out by the elements but you know what you can do with it to bring it alive again. That’s what I do. I rework it to breathe a new and vastly different life into it. Digitally repixelated photograph. Click once on image to enlarge. / /
