  • The most amazing mist appeared as the sun rose. The air was very cold, and the water was warm…..thank goodness, since I was barefoot…Rainbow beach Canon 5D, 16-35mm at 26mm, f/7, three bracketted exposures blended in photomatix, ISO 100, Singh ray reverse grad 0.9 and Lee ND grad 0.9 Seascapes New Zealand Frogs Lensbaby Infrared Industrial Spam Panorama Landscapes Real Estate Series People Plastic People

  • Dark Motions Convoluted images forming in my brain, intoxicated by the mental distortions of complex visions, finely interwoven in the cadence of emotions and thoughts that I feel as being only mine, even knowing they aren’t. The sea, the elements, the strength of nature, the perfect stir that most perfectly symbolizes our inner turbulence…. A study on movement and chaos shapes…. • Abundance – The Fountain http://www.joseramos.net A different approach, shot in the same day and place where I made the “The Infinity Fountain Photo”, capturing the same essence and feeling… Once more, standing alone in front of another memory, I harvest my thoughts from the infinity fountain ahead. The cycle repeats, as I find myself pulled away from the tedious life of today, feeling I could grab the source and remain there silently… After one hour of search and 20 minutes waiting under a rock for the intense rain to stop, the skies finally opened to let the sun set in and show it’s strength. The beach was absolutely desert, and the next 30 minutes were made of pure photographic pleasure… I came home wet and cold, but my inside was warm and soothed… José Ramos / http://www.joseramos.net / ____ / Shot in Algarve – Portugal

  • After arriving at the beach after work I started walking to the point but couldn’t resist taking a snap of this bucket that just happened to be sitting on the shore. There wasn’t even any people around so I wondered how it had got there… Processed in Adobe Lightroom 2 only, experimented with the new adjustment brushes which are coooool! • About This was taken at a new spot in Thornside, QLD that I recently discovered. It’s really easy to get to but the mozzies and midgies are quite harsh! - ISO 100, f11, 2.5sec, 10mm / - Sigma 10 – 20mm / - Cokin P154 (Tobacco Graduated filter) Processing 1) Import into Lightroom as RAW / a) Clarity / b) Curves / c) Fill light / d) Blacks / e) Unsharp Mask / f) Noise Reduction

  • A re edit of a pic I already have on here which was a HDR image, trying to steer away from it unless I find it appropriate. I like this one better in a lot of ways sometimes it’s better not to see all the hidden details. Processed in Adobe Lightroom 2. Gear out in the field – Canon 400D, Velbon tripod, 10-22mm lens, shutter release, nd grad filter. Enjoy :) This image was the winner of the “Part of the Sun” (Sunset or Sunrise) Challenge in the “Mornings & Evenings—Sunbeams & Storms” Group on the 7th of April 2009. • Looking out across Port Phillip Bay from next to the pier at Half Moon Bay. HMVS Cerberus can be seen at the top right on the horizon of the image. Taken with my Canon 40D and processed in Adobe Lightroom 2. Click here for my other seascapes

  • Taken at Rhyll early in the morning when the tide was way out. On the way back from Cowes to Woolamai I thought I might stop by Rhyll as I had never been there before even after all the years we had a house there. I spotted this boat tied up in the mud and couldn’t resist a shot. My shoes sank into the mud real deep and had to give the tripod a good clean. Taken with my Canon 40D with polarising and graduated filters. Featured in the All About Boating group on the 19th of April 2009 One of the photos in my Phillip Island series, please click here to see the rest of my images in the series

  • This one was taken at popular surfing spot Cat Bay on the North West coast of Phillip Island in Victoria, Australia. Got here with the hope of getting some nice long exposures of the high tide coming in and then the clouds opened up… Taken with my Canon 40D and 10-22mm wide angle lens as well as poalrising, graduated and ND filters. • Taken at The Pinnacles @ Cape Woolamai, Phillip Island, Victoria, Australia. I loved how the colour of this rock was different to all those around it. I took many shots of the one rock but think I liked this one the best. I really loved this place and cannot wait to get myself back there, there’s so many different angles this place can be captured from and I want to find them all! Taken with my Canon 40D and 10-22mm wide angle lens. 4 seconds @ f14, ISO 100. One of the photos in my Phillip Island series, please click here to see the rest of my images in the series

  • A drainage pipe leeking at sunset on the Sandringham foreshore. This area is being renourished by Bayside City Council to help stabilise the foreshore cliffs which are being eroded by wave action and stormwater emanating from the car park above. As soon as I took this photo the guys on the constuction equipment came over and started working on it maybe because of the low tide. Taken with my Canon 40D and 10-22mm wide angle lens with Polarising, Grad and ND4 Cokin Filters. Didn’t really have to do anything to the photo apart from remove some spots, I think it’s time for a sensor clean! • Same rock as in Solitary Confinement . Can’t really decide whether I like the vertical format or the landscape format of this rock. I’m kinda leaning towards this one? / Settings Canon 40D, 17-85mm IS. • ...if you were facing this way but most people were going the other way! I have a love/hate affair with freeways, hate being on them but love taking photos of them and seeing this one is only 5 minutes from my house it’s always the one I go to. Walking home from the station I looked up and that damn this is gonna be a good sunset and as I didn’t have enough time to get anywhere near the coast or somewhere beautiful I headed here instead. / Settings Canon 40D, 10-22mm EF-S. • I had no idea how many of these huts there are scattered around the Mornington Peninsula, it seems that they are everywhere! Really been trying to stay away from HDR lately I will put 3 exposures in Photomatix, tone map it, look at it, then scrap it and go back to Lightroom 2…so this is not a HDR image although it does have a little bit of that feel to it. This is the last photo for a while that I can remember being taken without a tripod! Was taken a little later in the morning than my last few uploads to RB. / Settings Canon 40D, 17-85mm IS. • Update 21-July-09: Retitled the pic from “Salt flats on the horizon” to “Infinity over and over”. I got the title from a comment by Vicki Ferrari – Thanks Vicki! Miles of nothingness. At the far end the little glistening bits are mounds of salt. Till a few years back, the extent of the salt-flats was restricted to only that part. This area still had a little water. Now nothing. Nikon D80 / Sigma 10-20 @ 12mm / f/8; 1/90; ISO 100 / 2-stop Grad ND HiTech (0.6)

  • Another shot from out the back at Portsea, couldn’t resist uploading this shot. I just love the atmosphere.. makes me feel like I’m still standing up on that rock with no-one around, just me and the crashing ocean. / Settings Canon 40D, 17-85mm IS. • Whilst standing up here this evening I had to ask myself.. is this the safe thing to do? But then I thought, if we never took risks then that would be a boring way to live. This one was taken from the same spot as a couple of my other Portsea images but at a different time and day. My original intention was to get a good sunset around the eastern side of the London Bridge but the tide was a lot higher than I expected so I climbed back up to this spot instead and it was definitely worth it :) I had to put the ISO up a fair bit to keep the exposure time down as it was almost dark. Luckily I can get away with it with this camera, the picture would be a lot grainier had I used my 40D. The London Bridge is located on the ocean side of Portsea in the Mornington Peninsula National Park, Victoria, Australia. It’s only a short walk down to this spot from the car park. / Settings Canon 5D, 17-40mm f4 L USM.
