A beautiful voilet and mauve toning descends on Hunters Gorge and the bird life, on the Diamantina River in outback Queensland
Deep inside the gorge through the Hells Gate National Park in Nakuru Province, Kenya. The water is supplied by thermal springs and runs down the walls in many parts of the canyon. In some places it come out of the rock formations so hot that it scalds if you grab the wrong place for balance! / . / . /
Tiger Leaping Gorge is a canyon on the Yangtze River – locally called the Golden Sands River – located 60 km north of Lijiang City, Yunnan in southwestern China. / Legend says that in order to escape from a hunter, a tiger jumped across the river at the narrowest point
Loch Ard Gorge, Port Campbell National Park, Victoria, Australia.
This gorge is in the Bungle Bungles (Purnulu National Park) in Western Australia’s Kimberley. There are these amazing beehive formations as far as the eye can see. The creek bed is gouged out by the torrents during the wet season. We spent a day walking up this gorge and constantly stunned by the amazing scenery around every turn. / I was thrilled to be featured in the Outback Australia group.

Looking along the length of the gorge just to the south of the approach Dunnottar Castle. From the first roll I developed in Moersch Tanol, a staining developer with gorgeous tonality and low grain.
The Bungle Bungles are an amazing landscape with beehive domes as far as the eye can see. This gorge can be walked up for the day, or overnight and is not a walk done by most. Around ever corner is another jaw dropping landscape. We were lucky to be there when there was still a little water around. You do get the impression though of what a different place this might be when there is water rushing down this creek in the wet. Another beautiful little corner of the Kimberley!

20×30 acrylic and pastel on canvas I love the magic and enchantment of New Mexico. I did this painting a couple of years ago after a camping trip in the mountains of New Mexico. After a magical day in Taos, we headed for the mountains with one stop at the Red River gorge. It is a truly remarkable formation. This is the painting that is over my living room mantel.
I couldn’t resist this one. Majestic Grand Canyon and …...this steel bridge over Colorado River. Captured with Nikon D70.

BEST VIEWED LARGER This image was taken at sunrise as the first rays of day reflect the cliff face of the gorge, loved the reflections in the sand. The Loch Ard Gorge is part of Port Campbell National Park, Victoria, Australia, about 10 minutes drive west of The Twelve Apostles. It is a visible example of the process of erosion in action. The gorge is named after the clipper ship Loch Ard, which ran aground on nearby Muttonbird Island on 1 June 1878 approaching the end of a three-month journey from England to Melbourne. All but two of the fifty-one passengers and crew perished – Tom Pearce, a ship’s apprentice and Eva Carmichael, an Irishwoman immigrating with her family, both of whom were 18 years of age. According to memorials at the site, Pearce was washed ashore, and rescued Carmichael from the water after hearing her cries for help. Pearce then proceeded to climb out of the gorge to raise the alarm to local pastoralists who immediately set into plan a rescue attempt. The gorge is accessed via the Great Ocean Road, only a few kilometres past The Twelve Apostles. Stairs allow visitors access to the beach which is otherwise undeveloped. There are numerous plaques that tell the story as well and a small museum and rest area and a cemetery housing many of the people that were killed.
