  • Elowah falls tumbles some 200+ feet to the floor of the Columbia River Gorge. Taken on a rainy misty day in January. I never seen that much water coming over the falls.

Looking down the gorge from the lower bridge, Falls of Bruar . I’m particularly impressed by the colours and the smooth glistening rocks. This area is rich in geology (an extension of the Loch Tay fault?): there’s a lot of limestone and other metamorphic sedimentary rocks (layered slate, possibly some schist) and a bit of red sandstone nearby, all folded making rakish angles. Taken on the Shen Hao 5×4” large-format camera with Fuji Velvia (old RVP emulsion) film.

  • Across the top end of my country and on into its heartland the earth has been fractured and torn by immense forces we cannot understand. Some of these scars of violence are now massive gorge systems, filled with waterfalls, rivers and sometimes a lonely, isolated rockhole. / Life flourishes in such places, little Edens surviving in a landscape so hostile to man that it seems like the surface of another planet. / But it is my planet / My country / My heart 60×60 cm / Acrylic, charcoal and inks on stretched canvas / Original is with a very good home :)

  • Once full rock pools are slowly drying up in the intense heat of summer. Before they do dry up these pools are teaming with both animal and plant life. Some of the more note worthy are fish up to 20cm long many species of frogs and blooming algae. • Taken on a very rare snowy morning in Bristol on my way to work. / Its the first time I have shot in the snow and the first time I have used my new tripod, so I was able to get nice slow speeds with a tight aperture. / A little work in PS to correct the colour and sharpen etc. Taken with a Nikon D70 and a CPL.

  • Acrylic On Canvas.

  • Taken at Loch Ard Gorge on the Great Ocean Road, VIC. This was shot with a Mamiya RZ67 on Ilford Pan F 50 ISO film. Only other details I remember was that it was shot with a 50mm lens, equivalent to about 24mm in 35mm format. I hand developed the film myself, scanned it and added the sepia toning with Photoshop.
