This was one of the most awesome sunsets I have stood around for – way out in the interior. The tree was so arresting in silhouette and the light was pooling more and more intensely. It was actually raining slightly. / And I was getting nibbled at by turtles in the water as I clicked away over that magic hour.

One of my favourite portraits of my Dad, doing what he loves more then anything else in the world fishing. If he could he’d spend every day fishing, as it is he sometimes wets a line three or four times a day. On this occasion I decided to get up early and document him enjoying his sport. This is the result, it has special sentimental value to me, but I felt like sharing it as something different to what I’ve been posting recently.

I haven’t learned this guy’s name yet because there are three horses at Ten Oaks from the same “family.” The barn owner owns one of them and a boarder owns the other two. All are spotted and look so much alike but I’m sure I’ll eventually learn to tell them apart. This one especially since he’s a bit of ham and camera hog:-) /

We had too much wind today to capture these wildflowers outdoors. Thus, almost a wild setting except for: An antique (a.k.a. tarnished) silver vase / Nikon D200 / Nikkor 105mm macro lens / 105mm / f/22 / 1.3 sec / -0.3ev / ISO 100 / manual exposure and focusing / studio lights / Collapsible gold reflector disc, mostly to shield the vase from too much light / Manfrotto tripod / Converted from RAW to jpeg using Capture NX2.2.1 The true macro lacks even more emotion, but was a joy for me to shoot. Oil on stretched canvas 900×1300 mm Top 10 in a Challenge in the Group SA Rainbow Nation Dedicated to Roney, who lived with his little brother on the streets in São Paulo and was tragically murdered in 2008 at the age of 12. Their lives have been pretty much guided by fate and fortune, like most other kids on the streets of the big cities in the world. An unstable childhood due to their mother’s alcoholism, has led them to end up on the streets full-time. It is unacceptable that 21st century children are still at risk on the streets. Carf Brazil, was established by Gregory J. Smith in São Paulo in 1993, to benefit the street children of Brazil by defending their rights and offering them a dignified solution so that they could live and grow within a family-oriented context and healthy social environment. As Grerory quotes, Albert Einstein said: _The world is a dangerous place. Not because of the people who are evil; but because of the people who don’t do anything about it. Sales from this painting will be donated to CARF who assists in the rehabilitation of street children in Diadema, São Paulo, Brazil. Read this poem Golden Boy written by Rhenastarr, who was inspired by this painting.
