This is my favorite photo of all! There is a wild red rose by my kitchen door. Late one afternoon, I was clipping tired blooms from the clusters; some clusters were hanging down. As I reached for this one to turn it over, a glimpse of gold flashed in the low sun. I looked again and discovered this tiny little frog napping in the heart of the bloom. I had only the negative and a small digital file from a scan, and it has taken me a month to get it into the appropriate high-resolution format where I can finally offer it for sale! Then God saw everything that He had made, and indeed it was very good. ~Genesis 1:31

MARION CHAMPMAN is a wonderful artist and a lover of patterns and design.. Printmaking and experimenting with all kinds of materials and colors.. she really turns my head.. Marion… truth be told.. Kauai is not a very pastel-y place.. so I took my photo and gave it a Marion Wash.. I love this shot..I do not know what this is but I spent some time with this guy..It was a very tall tree and that is how the leaves grow on it.. no branches!! Marion’s Chapman’s Pastels inspired Maddy of Smudge ARt Fame to write a most lovely lovely piece.. My gratitude for the Love here is ever growing.. Thank YOu Maddy! What beauty is this I behold ? / “A feast to ones eye”, I am told. / Leaves wrapped in soft hues. / Colors of gold, red and spiritual blues. “A tree without branches ”, she did say. / Just leaves that enfold it in every way. / Lina sad, this tree amazed me so, / I could not look at it and just let it go. It inspired me until I returned home, / In my minds eye, this is the tone. / I know Creator left this for me to do, / So I painted it gold, red and spiritual blue.

I am so very pleased with how this has come up – it glows! I hope you enjoy it as much as I do. Thank you for looking – all comments and criticisms are welcome and appreciated.
I painted this over the past two days. Size, 30×40” or 101.6×76.2cm. / Predominantly an acrylic on canvas. Over the recent weeks I am enjoying painting more than ever, I think its because I have finally let go of the outcome and instead enjoy the process more. After all, there is no such thing as a mistake. Please visit me at my blog
What a wonderful place to get my head back on straight. This is Rose Valley Lake in north central Pennsylvania, taken at the peak of fall’s natural color display. This photo was taken just before sunset with a Canon EOS 10D with a Canon EF 70-200mm f/4L telephoto zoom lens @ 200mm. The shutter speed was 1/20th sec at f/13. The camera’s ISO was set to 200. A Manfrotto tripod was used with a remote shutter release. Your comments are always welcome! Constructive criticism is appreciated. © 2009 Gene Walls All copyright and reproduction rights are retained by the artist. I think Art Nouveau is one of the most beautiful art styles ever. Everything about it is beautiful and harmonious. I have combined with that two of my other favorite art styles; comic book art and pin ups. Who better to be captured in the Art Nouveau style then Poison Ivy. I hope you like it…. Ink and watercolor on heavy weight paper Poison Ivy is copyright of DC Comics
A cream rose after some rain, with a gold finish – processed in CS3. (As usual I have a number of versions … how does one know when to stop?!!)
The rain and clouds finally cleared, just in time to allow me to get out to the lake while the leaves are still showing their finest colors. This is the shoreline of Rose Valley Lake in Gamble Township, north central Pennsylvania. Rose Valley is 5 miles east of the community of Trout Run. When you visit a beautiful place like Rose Valley Lake, please leave it exactly as you found it! Your food wrappers and empty containers must go back home with you for proper disposal. I had to do some cleaning up to be able to capture this pristine shot. Let’s all do the right thing, OK. Everyone benefits when we keep our “green” places green! This photo was taken on October 10th, 2009. It was shot with a Canon EOS 10D using a Canon EF 35-350mm f/3.5-5.6L zoom lens set to 90mm. The shutter speed was 1/45th sec. at f/8. The camera’s ISO was set to 100. Your comments are always welcome! Constructive criticism is appreciated. © 2009 Gene Walls All copyright and reproduction rights are retained by the artist. They call me The Wild Rose / But my name was Eliza Day / Why they call me it I do not know / For my name was Eliza Day From the first day I saw her I knew she was the one / She stared in my eyes and smiled / For her lips were the colour of the roses / That grew down the river, all bloody and wild When he knocked on my door and entered the room / My trembling subsided in his sure embrace / He would be my first man, and with a careful hand / He wiped out the tears that ran down my face They call me The Wild Rose / But my name was Eliza Day / Why they call me it I do not know / For my name was Eliza Day On the second day I brought her a flower / She was more beautiful than any woman I’d seen / I said, “Do you know where the wild roses grow, / so sweet and scarlet and free?” On the second day he came with a single red rose / He said: “Give me your loss and your sorrow” / I nodded my head, as I lay on the bed / “If I show you the roses will you follow?” They call me The Wild Rose / But my name was Eliza Day / Why they call me that I do not know / For my name was Eliza Day On the third day he took me to the river / He showed me the roses and we kissed / And the last thing I heard was a muttered word / As he knelt above me with a rock in his fist On the last day I took her where the wild roses grow / And she lay on the bank, the wind light as a thief / And I kissed her goodbye, said, “All beauty must die” / And I lent down and planted a rose between her teeth They call me The Wild Rose / But my name was Eliza Day / Why they call me it I do not know / For my name was Eliza Day / For my name was Eliza Day / For my name was Eliza Day / / /
