  • A planned get-together with a mate fell through. So instead my son and I went to North Narrabeen beach and took advantage of some magical light and conditions to capture the coast during winter time.    / For a very long time this image was my favourite. I was just amazed at how much light was absorbed by the wooden planks, contrast that with the smooth silky water. • These make excellent birthday cards ! I am designing 12 images based around the months of the year and the old Celtic luna months. They will reflect the changing of the seasons and the ever turning wheel of the year, the magic and mystery attatched to each part of the cycle and any special festivals falling in those months. I hope you enjoy them as much as I am enjoying creating them :) Blessings Angie* “October – and the skies are cool and gray / O’er stubbles emptied of their latest sheaf, / Bare meadow, and the slowly falling leaf. / The dignity of woods in rich decay / Accords full well with this majestic grief / That clothes our solemn purple hills to-day, / Whose afternoon is hush’d, and wintry brief / Only a robin sings from any spray. And night sends up her pale cold moon, and spills / White mist around the hollows of the hills, / Phantoms of firth or lake; the peasant sees / His cot and stockyard, with the homestead trees, / Islanded; but no foolish terror thrills / His perfect harvesting; he sleeps at ease. “ William Allingham

  • I took this shot or the old fence in front of the Rape Seed fields while in the area of Hadley Wood. It is close to the border of Hertfordshire and is located in the London Borough of Enfield. A lot of high class properties are in this area with A list celebrities residing in them. The day was a little overcast and somewhat hazy in the distance but I love this shot for the beautiful colour of the rape seed fields and of course the main feature, the old fence in the foreground weathered with age. The B&W version is my favourite as it brings out more detail in the timber of the fence and is more dramatic. I hope you like the shot and thank you so much for viewing my work, please call back again soon. NIKON D60 DSLR / F-stop f/16 / Exposure time 1/125 sec / ISO speed 1250 / Aperture Priority / Focal length 55 mm on a 18 – 55 mm Nikon lens Or perhaps you like the B&W shot better? • For Rob. As of 11.23.09, 1361 views, 31 favorites, and 94 comments Towards the end of the novel, The Unbearable Lightness of Being, Milan Kundera writes: “And therein lies the whole of man’s plight. Human time does not turn in a circle; it runs ahead in a straight line. That is why man cannot be happy: happiness is the longing for repetition.” I wondered then when I first read the novel—some 20 years ago, and I wonder today about the relationship(s) (probable and hypothetical) between happiness and repetition.
