Lakes entrance is a fishing port and tourist town located on the Southeastern coast of Victoria, Australia. It is near a natual channel which connects the Gippsland Lakes to Bass Straight. The town has been a popular holiday destination for generations of Victorians, yet has managed to retain its smalltown rural charm. Surfing on the nearby Ninety Mile Beach is a popular attraction, as is fishing from the many piers and bridges in the area. Family entertainment such as minigolf and the popular Shell Museum cater to all ages. This sunset was truly one of the most magnificent I’ve ever seen. Everyone in the town stopped to watch the spectacle and I shot many dozens of photos, trying to capture the glorious warm golden light that flooded the river. This is also my most successful attempt at a High Dynamic Range photo. I took three exposures at different settings to try and capture a broader range of detail in the highlights and shadows, and manually merged them together in photoshop.
The golden tones of a fresh new day are reflected in the sands, the rocks and the high cliffs at “Steps Beach”, a popular, but remote surfing spot on the Surfcoast of Victoria, Australia.
Same pond as in ‘On Golden Pond’ taken several minutes later at the sun went down, more blue tones now than the golden ones a few minutes earlier. Exposure time: 1/80s / Aperture Value: f3.2 / Shutterspeed: 1/75s /
Low tide on a relatively calm day at the world famous Bells Beach revealed some very beautiful reflections of the rocks and cliffs in the rock pools, on the shoreline.
Reflection on the water, reflection on the past. Like many West Aussie families in the 70’s, we liked to picnic at Mussel Pool. I don’t remember the park in detail, but on a recent visit, a sense of familiarity rose. Memories of inky water, dancing light and children laughing. Our greatest adventures were in our minds, acted out on the grassy banks of the pool. Shot on the same day as “Ripples, reeds, reflections” For enquires about canvas prints, or photographic prints larger than Redbubble options, please contact me via bubblemail

A sunlit golden tree at sunrise ~ Clarks Creek/Dehart Dam, Tower City, PA ~ Taken 10/11/09 – natural color and light. I am very fortunate to live in such a beautiful part of Pennsylvania. Sometimes the scenery seems boring because I’ve lived here all my life. But, on this beautiful morning the colors, reflections and scenery were awesome. Photography has really taught me to appreciate all of nature’s beauty, and I’m getting better at using my camera settings too!

BEST VIEWED LARGER / Thanks for dropping in the favouritings, Comments and Views are greatly appreciated. This shot shows a rower enjoying some personal time in Narrabeen lakes the reflections were wonderful Narrabeen Lakes is a popular paddling spot on the Northern Beaches of / Sydney. The surrounding hills and trees make it quite sheltered. The fact that / it is right next to one of the world’s best surf beaches is an added bonus North Narrabeen lies on the northern shores of Narrabeen lagoon, bounded by Warriewood to the north, Elanora Heights to the west and extends east to the ocean at Turrimetta Beach. Narrabeen is opposite on the southern shore of the lagoon. The first land grants were made to John Lees, 40 acres, Philip Schaffer, 50 acres, and James Wheeler, 80 acres, along the south bank of Mullet Creek. Alex Macdonald was granted 80 acres at the beach in 1815 and west of this land JT Collins had 93.5 acres by 1857. During the nineteenth century travellers had to ford the lake until 1880 when the first bridge opened. A second bridge at the mouth of the lagoon in Ocean Street was built in 1925. With the extension of the tram to Narrabeen in 1913 providing easier transport, the whole area around the lake became popular for holidays and camping. A large camping ground became established on the north shore of the lagoon. In 1946 the Wakehurst Parkway was opened to North Narrabeen connecting the whole Pittwater area directly to Frenchs Forest and Seaforth. The origins of the name Narrabeen are uncertain, possibilities are: Narrabin, a native plant growing near the lake entrance; Narrabine, an Aborigine girl; narrow beans eaten by early explorers. James Meehan mentions Narrowbang lagoon in his survey in 1815.
