This one is some what experimental.. Wasn’t sure where I was heading with it but it does represent one of the simplest plants we know.. Wheat….It’s so simple and has been a staple food, well, forever! This image represents it’s timeless quality.

What drew me to this shot (apart from the stunning beauty of the jaguar) was that here she was, trying to hide behind trees and leaves, yet she was literally just glowing in the sunlight… As if she couldn’t hide her beauty and strength no matter how hard she tried… I’m sure you know people in your life like this, or maybe even you yourself are like this… They hide behind screen names or job roles or maybe just shyness, but their personality, their inner glow, isn’t able to be hidden and just shines on… The jaguar is classified as a near-threatened species, which means that they could be threatened with extinction in the near future. Their main threats are deforestation, poaching, and conflicts with ranchers who kill them. However, things have gotten a little better for the jaguar; during the 1960s, their numbers saw serious declines due to the pelt trade, with around 15,000 jaguar skins being shipped out of South America each year. But the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species in 1973 decreased that number sharply, which just goes to show that positive legislation and treaties really can make a difference in helping species survive. 100% of the profits from the sale of this image will be donated to Wildlife Warriors Worldwide.

Last Sunday I wend down to Sculpture By The Sea at Bondi Beach. The sky was amazing. It rained all the way down in the car (at 5am) then stopped as I parked. The clouds threatened rain for the 90 min I was taking photos, but then just as I was getting ready to go, a window opened up in the clouds and beautiful golden light streamed over the sculptures. The dark threatening clouds made the perfect backdrop. This image is a 3 shot HDR image. I printed this image up and it looks great in my hall… It has become one of my favorites.

Anclote Key, Florida USA This is the sunset the first night I was hiding out on the island. I’ll admit, I was scared that night and didnt sleep much. I was 2 miles out in the ocean on an island without any protection and Im about 5’6 90 pds. You could throw me. The second my eyes opened to find daylight, I got back into the boat and headed to the ramp where my handgun was in my truck. I got it and back out I went. I intentionally didnt take it with the thought, ‘Im doing all of this to get away from all of THAT’. Thus, I left my piece which left me very vulnerable, scared and unable to enjoy my hiatus! I didnt even entertain the idea I would get out there and get scared. But, I did. Once I got my lil friend, no more worries! I have gotten a lot of bubblemails asking for a sunset. I didnt know I was ‘known for that’ but OK. I am here to please so here you have it! An island sunset! This image is symbolic of the fear and anxiety I was feeling as the sun left me sitting alone on the island. I didnt realize until then that the sun was the friend keeping me company all day. Lord, how I missed her until she came back. I was one scared girl. I am lucky enough to live right next to a forest so I took the kids bush walking and got this photo of the sunset through the long grass.. I just really liked the golden tones and I had a different grass image but have taken it down and replaced it with this one.

I got sick of beakfaces and lizards momentarily and decided to paint some fishies – literally, goldfish…I’ve applied patches of gold leaf to their little heads. Despite being distracted by Eurovision I managed to finish it this weekend!! This one will probably be at Brunswick St Gallery in their small works show, June 6th. About 20×20cm, watercolour, chalk pastel etc on canvas. These enlargements are bigger than life size:

The maneki neko is a popular Japanese sculpture that is believed to bring good luck to its owner.
