My memory stick was full after shooting raw images all day. I think I had 3 shots left. I turned around and saw the clouds forming in such an unusual way so I quickly switched my camera to fine (jpg quality) and managed to get 7 shots before they disappeared.

I was thinking of Julie Langford’s dear mother as I worked on this image, and I kept thinking how we all must undergo metamorphosis as we make the transition from this world where light is exterior to the next world where the interior light of our Maker can finally show through when we shed our caterpillar casing and spread our butterfly wings in the new life.
Collaboration by Angelaka Black and Marie Then one of the elders said to me, “Do not weep! See, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David has triumphed.” God has made each of us different; / just as the lion and the lamb. / However, through Christ, we can / love and live in peace. You shall no longer be termed Forsaken, / Nor shall your land any more be termed Desolate; / But you shall be called Hephzibah [My delight is in her], and your land Beulah [Married]; / For the LORD delights in you, / And your land shall be married. Atsá (Diné [Navajo] word for eagle). Eagle, the master of the sky, is considered a carrier of prayers. Many Indian Nations honor this bird as possessing courage, wisdom, and a special connection to the creator. This is often confused with the “thunderbird” image concept. Eagle is also a Directional Protector(the Sky) spirit, and an image associated with spirits and visions. / My depiction represents three Bald Eagles circling about the Sun, here symbolized by the sacred Zia (Zia Pueblo word for ‘Sun’). Its rays marking the four directions; in the year, with its four seasons; in the day, with the sunrise, noon, evening, and night; in life, with its four divisions—childhood, youth, manhood, and old age. Everything is bound together in a circle of life and love, without beginning, without end.
Zia Keresean (language of the Zia Pueblo [and other Keres pueblos] in New Mexico) for Sun. New Mexico’s distinctive insignia is the Zia (Sun) Symbol, which originated with the Indians of Zia Pueblo (north central New Mexico) in ancient times. Its design reflects their tribal philosophy, with its wealth of pantheistic spiritualism teaching the basic harmony of all things in the universe. Four is the sacred number of Zia, and the figure is composed of a circle from which four points radiate. These points made up of four straight lines of varying length personify the number most often used by the Giver of all good gifts. To the Zia Indian, the sacred number is embodied in the earth, with its four directions; in the year, with its four seasons; in the day, with the sunrise, noon, evening, and night; in life, with its four divisions—childhood, youth, manhood, and old age. Everything is bound together in a circle of life and love, without beginning, without end. The Zia believe, too, that in this great brotherhood of all things, man has four sacred obligations: he must develop a strong body, a clear mind, a pure spirit, and a devotion to the welfare of his people. This is the symbol which adorns the flag of New Mexico.
God is laying Ephesians heavy on my heart today. In this simple scripture verse, we have all that we will ever need and then some. We have been set free because of what Christ has done. Through his blood our sins have been forgiven. We have been set free because God’s grace is so rich. He poured his grace on us by giving us great wisdom and understanding. / Ephesians 1:7 & 8 This is two acrylic paintings layered with digital effects added. /
I heard the voice of the Lord, saying: “ Whom shall I send, / And who will go for Us?” Then I said, “Here am I! Send me.” / Isaiah 6:8 To me this means about dying to self so God can send you out into the world and show the world how much Jesus loves others. This is the great send off! It’s time now for the harvest! And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart. ~ Galatians 6:9 Those who sow in tears / Shall reap in joy. ~Psalm 126:5 Stock Credits: / Textures here here and here / Flower here
I found the following verse while reading a book of poetry by Helen Steiner Rice. It goes so well with this image of Christ that I deleted the original image and reposted this to include the poem. We have God’s Easter promise, so let us seek a goal / That opens up new vistas for man’s eternal soul…. / For our strength and our security lie not in earthly things / But in Christ the Lord, who died for us and rose as / King of kings. This is one of my favorite songs and so I wanted to share it with you. I Hope You Dance I hope you never lose your sense of wonder / You get your fill to eat / But always keep that hunger / May you never take one single breath for granted / God forbid love ever leave you empty handed / I hope you still feel small / When you stand by the ocean / Whenever one door closes, I hope one more opens / Promise me you’ll give faith a fighting chance And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance / I hope you dance / I hope you dance I hope you never fear those mountains in the distance / Never settle for the path of least resistance / Living might mean taking chances / But they’re worth taking / Lovin’ might be a mistake / But it’s worth making / Don’t let some hell bent heart / Leave you bitter / When you come close to selling out / Reconsider / Give the heavens above / More than just a passing glance And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance / I hope you dance. As the moon beams fall softly into my garden, I bid it farewell, Frost is coming! All will be gone in the morning! But they are not dead, they are just “waiting”.... Waiting for Spring, when NEW life is born. We are waiting too, for our “new life” to become reality in the Spring! The Winter is cold, but warmth and beauty come in the Spring. / For our Aussie Friends, it’s just the other way around, but the same difference!! All of God’s creation is “waiting” to receive the NEW life that is promised. We are waiting Lord.
As it goes… God Created….it ALL!! This is the tiny leaf of a tree, that has just barely leafed out in the spring. So small, yet so beautiful! It IS a leaf, came from it’s TREE… and has all the genetics of a TREE…. Everything is programed by God, to be and to do… what it was programmed to do! Imagine if sin had not come along and spoiled “nature”... As beautiful as it is NOW.. there is NO way to imagine how it looked before the fall of humanity, and sin was brought into the world. Even “creation groans in sin, waiting for it’s redemption”!! Storms, earthquakes, fire… floods! We are all waiting, for our redemption by God when there will be no more storms, evil, sickness, war! All of creation KNOWS their Creator! But the greatest of God’s creations…is MAN!! If a PLANT KNOWS who created it.. HOW, I ask you, can man turn Him down? Go back then, to how we got in this mess… when man was disobedient…and was then separated FROM God. At the same time, the beautiful creation was effected also….and thorns, and thistles and pests appeared. Heretofore, Man tended a beautiful garden, in paradise. NOW, by the sweat of his brow, he works until he is worn down, and worn out. One of the greatest promises is a NEW body, just like the one that Christ has at this moment! It won’t bother me a bit, to get my new body! What a day, “glorious day, that will be”. /
