in hockey parlance is the Goalie. This is one of the best, Mikka Kiprusoff, of the Calgary Flames at last night’s game at the Saddledome against the Anaheim Ducks. Kipper played well but Anaheim did some pretty passing and scored three against him, plus an empty-netter. The Flames lost 4-1, ruining a special evening to honor their Captain, Jarome Iginla, for playing the most games of any Flame, his 804th last night. / SC work.

I was walking around and taking pictures during our local hockey tournament when I started talking with the official photographers. After some time, the lady asked me if she could see my camera, took off my 18-55mm lens, replaced it with a Nikon 70-200mm f/2.8 VR…. and told me to go shoot some pictures of the hockey games. Oh boy!!! I spent a whole hour trying out the lens, and this is one of the shots I made with it, through the battered plexi around the rink. I almost cried when the time came to give it back. :-( The kids here were 9 or 10 years old and belonged to the category Atome C. This was a grand final game. Focal length 140mm / ISO-800 / Aperture f/3,2 / Shutter 1/80 sec. Shot in manual mode / Nikon D60 / Nikon AF-S VR Zoom-Nikkor 70-200mm f/2.8G ED-IF Finished in 2nd position of Top Ten in the Sports challenge of the OLDER KIDS Aged 8-16 group on April 18, 2009

June 21/09 / If you want to win the game, you have to beat DIESEL one more time than his team beats your goalie! And that doesn’t happen very often! My grandson is quite the diligent goalie!
