Mr.Roland died two days after I took that picture,he was a realy good friend and I use to tease him a lot.He was blind but always recognised me because he knew my voice«Ah!....« Gigi de St-Hippolyte»he used to say , holding my hand.He never asked for much only to organised his meal in a way he could easily eat by himself and to give him his chaplet for the ceremony on sundays.A great person , very generous and smiling all the time. The worst part for him was not being able to go to the bathroom ,I think that idea killed him ,he was so proud. He died very peacefully with her daughter and son ,hand in hand .The hand you see in the picture is his son’s .Let’s say that if I wasn’t passionnate about my job I couldn’t do it . / /
Tank Man, or the Unknown Rebel, is the nickname of an anonymous man who became internationally famous when he was videotaped and photographed during the Tiananmen Square protests on 5 June 1989. TIME included the “Unknown Rebel” in its 100 most influential people of the 20th century. This year marks the 20th anniversary of this shocking yet iconic image.
Many thanks must go to my son who faithfully held the umbrella to protect my Sami from the light drizzle that had started to fall at the end of our sea fog exploration on the weekend. I pass by this stand of trees four times a day and never have I seen them look so beautiful, so mysterious, so inviting. I was entranced by the light on the hill, shining through the fog… Sisters Beach, Tasmania

Hello, Grant has been working on the BubbleSites...
Hello, Grant has been working on the BubbleSites for months now – and he’s keen to see the fruits of his hard work out there on the ‘Internets’. So today we’re taking the wrap off the BubbleSites and making it generally available. The thinking behind the BubbleSites is to provide you with a very clean, simple personal gallery website. Your BubbleSite is free of anyone else’s branding or artwork, and you control the content. The BubbleSites are one small step towards our vision for RedBubble. We can’t possibly hope to do everything for everyone with one website, so we’re looking to make RedBubble more flexible. We want to allow people to use RedBubble in different ways. Some folks want to use RedBubble as a place to send their customers. With the current website your customers land on a profile page, but there’s lots of distractions. BubbleSites provide a much more focused experience, for those who want it. We’re still doing lots of work on the BubbleSites, so expect to see more changes in the near future. In particular we’re working right now on giving people the ability to change the background color. If you’ve got any feedback or suggestions please wander over to the feedback forum and type away. This week we’ve also made some small changes elsewhere on RB. Images in challenges are no longer cropped (our challenge software is currently under beta testing – see here for a few example challenges). For those with a technical mind we’ve embedded hidden copyright information into every large image displayed on RedBubble – this means that if somone downloads a large image off RedBubble it can always be traced back to you. By default we’ve inserted your name and profile URL into each image, but you can change this on your edit profile page (down towards the bottom of the screen). That’s it for this week – thanks Grant for all your hard work! Here’s a picture of the man (and my favorite Grant t-shirt): Cheers, Peter

“And when the day arrives I’ll become the sky and I’ll become the sea and the sea will come to kiss me for I am going home. Nothing can stop me now.”’ Trent Reznor This image is a tribute to an old friend, Hilton Matthews, who so sadly died earlier this year. It is a gift for his wife, and my closest friend, Sarah. Hilton was a well known sailor on the Isle of Wight, and was one of the true characters of the Fishbourne Sailing Club. He weathered many storms during his life. He would have loved this one! The boat in the image is one which Hilton helped rescue when it ran aground on the rocks. The sky and the seas have been painted, using a variety of brushes in Photoshop CS4. A shot taken on my last bike trip on that wonderful misty morning of Sunday 27th September to the grounds of the country-house Groeneveld near Baarn. This is the same lane where I met the girl with the golden hair some moments later. Many of you will understand that this picture has got a completely new meaning for me in the last three days. I could have chosen a shot with light at the end of the tunnel. And I am pretty sure that there will be light at the end of my present tunnel. So many of you here on RB and also on devArt have written and confirmed that there is a good prospect for continuing my beloved photographic activities after the forthcoming operation. Ever so many thanks to them here too. Still this shot appeals more to me today. The feeling at the moment is one of going from the light to an uncertain future. But I shall venture into that mist. Indeed I am sure there is a lot of good to win by going on. Groeneveld, 27th September 2009, 9.23 am / Nikon D80, Nikkor 18-200 mm at 62 mm / F 13, 1/30, ISO 200
