  • I was thinking of Julie Langford’s dear mother as I worked on this image, and I kept thinking how we all must undergo metamorphosis as we make the transition from this world where light is exterior to the next world where the interior light of our Maker can finally show through when we shed our caterpillar casing and spread our butterfly wings in the new life.

  • Random snippets of a film for company’s – how technicolour can help their business…

  • Obama is a fasinating figure to study and draw. Despite is profound abilities for simple cadence, his face is full of complexity and thought. I do believe he will be our next president and thus the title, the edge of hope. Win or lose I am convinced he will be a cultural icon for a long time.

  • The image says it all….. Processed as a HDR it would make a beautiful card or picture to hang on any wall. Photographer / Robert Berry / Nikon D80 Nikor 50mm Prime Lense Best Viewed at Full Size!

  • I dont’ think that perfection means beauty. More often than not, the imperfect is more interesting and attractive, with flowers as much as anything else. I shot this sunflower on an overcast day, against the sky, and using fill-in flash. I thought it turned out sharp and detailed, but unnatural looking. The textures and shapes really appealed to me, so I took the opportunity to have some fun with the image. Why not make it more unnatural looking, but my way. / I converted it from RAW and postprocessed it in hdr software; then took it into PhotoImpact. I then added a hint of sepia toning, then a fading filter to soften it a bit. Finally, I added a little more contrast. I’m very pleased with the results. Canon EOS 450D 18-5mm lens with polarizer filter and on-camera flash.

  • Canon 40D

  • sometimes the best sunrises to be seen are on mornings when the sky is just seething with the promise of storms all day… like here when I braved the wretched weather and was rewarded with a few moments of true golden glory as the sun rose into the heavy cloud mass …. interestingly as the sun rose the sky just got darker and darker and as the storms out to sea got closer and closer I couldn’t bring myself to leave the vantage point I had. I ended up taking a whole series of quite amazing shots in sequence before the rain hit and I had to make a dash for shelter. And as it’s a grey rainy day here again I’m going to post a few of those shots today starting with this one…. / . /

  • the storm out to sea is getting closer and closer and as the sun rises the morning gets darker and darker…. still I am unable to make myself leave my vantage point on the cliff top as it’s all just too dramatic and exciting and the rain is still a few minutes off so I stay and revel in the mesmerizing beauty of the morning….the little outpost of rock you can see down in the left hand corner is actually a huge cliff face which can also be seen in this image called fishing fools / . /

  • My eagle, but a friend (James Logan) put this image together for me – - – My brother in law was in one of the towers, but thankfully he made it out. What a horrible day this was for everyone! We will never forget!

  • This is so sad. Mindless yobs who pinch cars, take them into the mountains and burn them, for their entertainment. I cant help thinking of the poor family, Who may not be able to afford much, Waking to the knock on the door of a policeman, Who informs them that their precious car has been burnt out.

  • Maui, Hawaii The Peacocks at The Garden of Eden, on the road to Hana are gorgeous and wander the grounds freely. You can buy food to feed them and they have become very tame. I think I could have reached out and touched this one, it came so close. The significance of Peacocks; / (Wikipedia) / In general, the Peacock is representative of glory, immortality, royalty, and incorruptibility. It is a possessor of some of the most admired human characteristics, and is a symbol of integrity and the beauty that can be achieved when we endeavor to better ourselves and better our lives. In history, myth, legend & lore, the peacock is considered an emblem of protection, nobility, watchfulness, guiddance, and holiness. In Greco-Roman mythology the Peacock is identified with Hera (Juno) who created the peacock from Argus whose hundred eyes (seen on the tail feathers of the peacock)symbolize the vault of heaven and the “eyes” of the stars. In Christianity the peacock represents the “all-seeing” church and the holiness & sancitiy associated with it. Additionally, the peacock reprsents resurrection, renewal and immortality within the spiritual teachings of Christianity. In Hinduism the peacock is associated with Lakshmi who is a deity representing benevolence, patience, kindness, compassion and luck. Similar to Lakshmi, the peacock is associated with Kwan-yin in Japan – she is also an emblem of love, compassionate watchfulness, good-will, nurturing, and kind-heartedness. Kwan-yin chose to remain a mortal even though she could be immortal because she wished to stay behind and aid humanity in their spiritual evolution. In Babylonia and Persia the peacock is seen as a guardian to royalty, and is often seen in engravings on the thrones of royalty.
