Swan on the River Frome, Dorchester, Dorset. I’ve been taking walks at lunchtime, trying to get shots of swans – but they are a bit shy in Dorchester! My inspiration has been LynEvans Please take a look at Lyn’s superb swan shots.
This bright blue Eastern Pondhawk dragonfly is a male; its mate is apple green in color. Both are beautiful and graceful and very helpful to humans as they eat enormous numbers of mosquitoes daily. In fact, they are commonly referred to as mosquito hawks because they’re predators on the prowl for the offensive pests!
