Taken at Glenelg Jetty…a lady and her “friends”
Dun Troddan and Dun Telve. Both the Brochs are twin-walled circular structures with a single doorway; off to the side of the doorway is a short passage between the walls which may have housed a guard or watchdog. Once within the inner enclosure, there is also an inner entrance leading to other passages between the curtain walls, and parts of the stairways still survive which gave access to upper levels. / The Brochs stood around 10 metres high (and both approach this height today in places). There are remains of wooden post holes at various points in the structure, and it is thought that the inner circular courtyard may have been roofed, giving comfortable living accommodation during times of attack; much more pleasant that the passageways in the curtain walls. The fine state of repair of the Brochs, acheived despite a complete lack of mortar, is a testimony to the skill of their builders.

Sand dredging at Glenelg Beach – South Australia
Small jetty and boat-shed at Nelson on the Glenelg river in Victoria South Australia. Property of the ‘River Vu’ caravan park. A dull and cloudy day with rain and wind made for a successful black and white conversion of a three shot HDR – converted in Photomatix. Canon 400D 17-85 lens with three shot HDR hand held.
After a rare day of good weather, the jetty was busy with plenty of people. / The long exposure has helped minimise the human distraction and create the smooth water effect. This is the Glenelg pier, Adelaide. I spent at least 10 mins waiting for people coming and going to clear out so I could get a shot of the pier alone. As you can see, this didn’t happen. Turns out, I prefer the activity in this one! Added a texture from www.deviantart.com stock and blanched out the colour form both texture and photo. Added an omni filter for lighting effect and slight adjustment of contrast. Little fella needed a rest on the way to the restaurant. He was drawn to the shapes as we were. The colour was amazing. Your comments/support always appreciated. Nikon D70 / 185 views @ 10th Dec 2009 / Glenelg, South Australia
