I even bought a new memory card (had to get a new card reader – RRRR!) and heaps of envelopes to send out all the CDs in for the performers. I was also looking forward to seeing Sarah Lea Cheesecake, Kelly Ann Doll and Simone in the one show and they wanted me to come see them also (I had written the show in the diary at least two months ago.) There were also a lot of new people in the show so I was looking forward to seeing them also. I got to talk to most of the performers during the course of the night and had introduced myself leading up to the show so it was good to meet them. Simone from the Diamond Dolls was so great as the MC. She was playing a Russian character, but I forget the name. She also clowned around on stage including feeding people grapes left over from one act, picking up the money lying around and at one stage practicing her soprano skills. Rosy Rabbit was great in her first act and even better in the second with her flying gold wings that reminded me of the Art Deco exhibition at the NGV that I go past every day on the tram. The V Dentatas were hot and I liked hearing Windowlicker used in one of their acts. The Marie Antoinette routine was good as was the gangster routine, which ended up with money all over the stage. Miss Fifi L’amour was also an act that I hadn’t seen before and she did some great contortionist moves. In her second performance she was joined by a double bass player on accompaniment. Not many acts have live music backing them so it was good to see. Jimmy Stewart had the thankless task of keeping the crowd entertained in the intervals when the crowd just wanted to hit the bar. I thought he went well and did some funny songs. Living Dead Ballet was strange out in the back courtyard and very performance oriented. It was hard to get good photos, but they did swing a knife and meat cleaver around on a chain, scream and try to jump over the fence. The Diamond Dolls were great on the stage near the bar (someone forgot to turn the lights on!) and I also got to take some funny photos with them at the start of the night. Dolores Daiquiri from Hi Ball Burlesque was great and I wish I could have gotten more photos (my flash batteries almost burnt me when I changed them.) I did like Frankie Valentine and I hope she goes on to do more performances around town. I got to give her some photos from the Meow show last month also. It was so great to see Miss Kelly Ann Doll dance on the bar stage as I had last seen her at Dr Sketchy’s. Her solo routine was great also and I look forward to seeing her more often. Sarah Lea Cheesecake was a crowd favourite and even the bar staff took photos of her while she was on stage. I liked her new routine and am looking forward to seeing it from the front of the stage next time. The best part of the show was getting to take photos from backstage and hanging out with the performers just before they went on, as I don’t usually get to do that. I ended up taking 3,389 photos for the night, around 2,000 of these in the last act. As I have so many good photos to choose from, I might end up putting up more than usual. The next Kinky event is for Halloween and I am sure lots of people will come to it given the success of this show.
