I took this photo of a storm hitting the Glasshouse Mountains just after sunset from the top of Wild Horse Mountain. Unfortunately the mountains don’t look too sharp due to the blurring effect of the heavy rain. I had a lot of trouble holding the tripod down the wind was so fierce let alone keeping rain drops off the lens.
An early morning view of the Glasshouse Mountains. Pentax *ist DL , Sigma 18-200mm DC lens @ 26mm. Aperture priority f/14, 0.3s, ISO 200, spot metering, 2.00eV. Photo taken in RAW processed in ACDSee Pro.

One day a friend of mine asked me if I could design a logo for their new company, which I did. She also knew my watercolours and my style so she asked me if I could translate the new logo into a watercolour painting. In other words, this is my first commissioned work. The original is sold in other words, she was very enthusiastic about the result, but I’d like to share this work with the rest of you and make it available as cards, prints, etc. I hope you enjoy it. / Cheers detail at 100% / more work / the card /
Anything can roll downhill, someone observed nicely, the truth which I proved on that day overwhelmed and fatigued after a visit to a great museum. Across the pampered grass, around the mature trees and just below the rugby balls I strolled through the massive park hoisted as a horizontal sail of greenery among the endless medley of man made structures. The Domain, that’s how locals like to call it. And here within this oasis I stumbled unexpectedly on a relic from an old millennium, an edifice with charm to spare, a perfect medium for times gone by fantasia. No single soul around, the welcome side effect of being on holiday and out of sync with the rest of the working population, you can take your time, sit down and admire the artistry behind its appearance, the visual substance far above the aesthetic torment of modern architecture. This sight alone is more than enough to satisfy every soul’s daily dosage in beautiful imagery, mine included. I was particularly intrigued with its glass roof and the ghostly appearance of the tall trees through it, swivelled by the eastern winds, the same ones that brought the drizzle and a salty smell of the Hauraki Gulf. How wonderful. That’s the best thing about a trip without destination. Regardless of the direction you choose you always end up in the place you intended.
Mount Tibrogargan. one of the mountains in the glasshouse mountains, sunshine coast . QLD. / Legend of the Glasshouse Mountains It seems that Tibrogargan, the father, and Beerwah, the mother, had many children – Coonowrin (the eldest), Beerburrum, the Tunbubudla twins, / Coochin, Ngungun, Tibberoowuccum, Miketeebumulgrai and Elimbah. According to the story there was also Round who was fat and small, and Wild Horse who was always straying away to paddle in the sea. One day, when Tibrogargan was gazing out to sea he noticed a great rising of the water. Hurrying off to gather his younger children in order to flee / to the safety of the mountains to the westward, he called out to Coonowrin to help his mother, who by the way, was again with child. Looking back to / see how Coonowrin was assisting Beerwah, Tibrorgargan was greatly angered to see him running off alone. He pursued Coonowrin and, raising his club, / struck the latter such a mighty blow that it dislocated Coonowrin’s neck, and he has never been able to straighten it since. When the floods had subsided and the family had returned to the plains, the other children teased Coonowrin about his crooked neck. Feeling ashamed, / Coonowrin went to Tibrogargan and asked for forgiveness, but filled with shame at his son’s cowardice, Tibrogargan could do nothing but weep copious / tears, which, trickling along the ground, formed a stream which flowed into the sea. Then Coonowrin went to his brothers and sisters, but they also wept at the shame of their brother’s cowardice. The lamentations of Coonowrin’s parents / and his brothers and sisters at his disgrace explain the presence today of the numerous small streams of the area. Tibrogargan then called Coonowrin, asking him why he had deserted Beerwah; at which Coonowrin replied that as Beerwah was the biggest of them all she / should be able to take care of herself. He did not know that Beerwah was again pregnant, which was the reason for her great size. Then Tibrogargan / turned his back on Coonowrin and vowed that he would never look at him again. Even today, Tibrogargan gazes far out to sea and never looks around at Coonowrin, who hangs his head and cries, his tears running off to the sea. / His mother Beerwah, is still heavy with child as it takes a long, long time to give birth to a mountain.
