Its most common English name is glasswing, and its Spanish name is espejitos, which means “little mirrors.” Indeed, the tissue between the veins of its wings looks like glass. It is one of the more abundant clearwing species in its home range, which extends throughout Central America into Mexico. The opaque borders of its wings are dark brown sometimes tinted with red or orange, and its body is dark in color. Its wingspan is between 5.5 and 6 cm. Adults inhabit the rainforest understory and feed on the nectar of a variety of tropical flowers. G. oto prefers to lay its eggs on plants of the tropical nightshade genus Cestrum. The silvery-gray caterpillars feed on these toxic plants and store the alkaloids in their tissues, making them distasteful to predators such as birds. They retain their toxicity in adulthood. The same alkaloids that make them poisonous also are converted into pheromones by the males, which use them to attract females. This Thornseat Lodge, a derelict house in Derbyshire, originally a Gamekeepers house, then in 1934 was turned into an orphange and was stopped being used in the late 80’s, now it is just falling apart, such a waste

This image came about in an awesome way for me. Two weeks earlier, the model, Margrit, was telling me a bit about her life. She’s lived and travelled in many countries and taken lots of opportunities. She has also achieved great success with her photography. Several weeks later, I had an unusual chance to photograph her in an old train – the perfect location to reflect her life’s journey. / In Australia, Margrit has achieved her LAPS and AAPS, and is the only West Australian women to received international photographic honours AFIAP. She’s a perfectionist and it shines through in her work. Visit Margrit’s website

Delightful baby welcomes home her parents. Taken in 1996 in Greystones Wicklow. I was taking portrait shots of the baby, she´s my cousins, through the kitchen back door window when the baby just latched herself onto the glass by her tongue and almost magnetically began to rise up the window frame. I could hardly take the picture for laughter. Group guidelines : / A fantastic Humorous card for many occasions, birthdays, births, suprises, invites etc! Buy a whole bunch now!

This child watched through a broken window as we worked inside. It’s times like this when the natural, uncontrived symbolism of circumstance just presents itself to you and all you have to do is click. There was not pretence, no staging, no crap. Just reality. It still engages me now. Look at his eyes. What is he thinking? He’s aching. He is full on aching. How can I help them more, how can I help them more, how can I help them more… Please give if you can or pass it on to someone else. That’s giving too. All proceeds to charity. NOW AVAILABLE AS A CHRISTMAS CARD! /

A different perspective on the world. Also a nice seasonal picture. It’s a picture of glass globes that have been hanging in the front window at home and I took the picture through them into the winter wonderland outside. It’s not a recent picture, it was taken two, maybe three winters ago. Thought I’d put it up and let it get some exposure! I’m really happy with how it turned out! I hope you enjoy this piece. The Titanic smashed into the iceberg. / Screams broke out along with utter pandemonium. / Nevertheless, the men with their instruments in their tidy little suits, sat upright, swallowed hard, and with swift acceptance began playing the most heartfelt rendition of “Nearer My God To Thee” they’d ever played or known before… / / / and then all was silent.

Friday August 3rd It happened again tonight. The old fool had left the door unlocked; and there, above the cages, some apparently empty and some housing pink-eyed rodents; stood the vessel containing the precious green liquid and marked with the words: “NOT FOR HUMAN CONSUMPTION” once more, at my disposal. Thanks to yesterday’s acquisition of a rather splendid pocketwatch, I have been able to establish that administration of about 2floz of the serum is sufficient to remain effective for approximately two hours. I have thus resolved that, weather permitting, tomorrow’s edification will begin with the short trip into town whereupon I will partake in what will no doubt be another fruitful bout of “shopping”, after which with any luck, there will be ample time for a spot of inexpensive dining followed by a close inspection of the ample figures belonging to those delightful ladies up there at Pedlar’s Lane bathhouse, whom I understand, usually prefer to keep themselves hidden away from prying eyes. Dash it… Awfully sorry ladies!

Mrs. Flibble said I should shred some confidential stuff, lest it fall into the wrong hands. That would be… er… problematic and embarrassing – and not just for the llamas. Now normally I’m good at shredding, but today I forgot to heed the warning of "shred with a tie and you’re dead". It was going great, but just as I reached for the latest stack of llama sex orgy paperwork, my tie flopped into the diamond cut steel grinding gears of the shredder of death. This is moments before my grizzly end. Splendid. Oooh… I just started a blog: www.idrinkleadpaint.com Strobist stuff: I had a flash, camera left through an umbrella, deliberately set quite high to give the shot a bit more drama. Wide angle lens was in really close for extra distortion. Wanted a Flibble in the headlights sort of death. Ties were hurt in the making of this photograph.

This pattern and line filled image isolates a lone girl in red.
