  • I was coming home yesterday from an appointment downtown, / and happened to look over and see this place. It was completely / abandoned, along with garages, a barn and cars. • Friday August 3rd It happened again tonight. The old fool had left the door unlocked; and there, above the cages, some apparently empty and some housing pink-eyed rodents; stood the vessel containing the precious green liquid and marked with the words: “NOT FOR HUMAN CONSUMPTION” once more, at my disposal. Thanks to yesterday’s acquisition of a rather splendid pocketwatch, I have been able to establish that administration of about 2floz of the serum is sufficient to remain effective for approximately two hours. I have thus resolved that, weather permitting, tomorrow’s edification will begin with the short trip into town whereupon I will partake in what will no doubt be another fruitful bout of “shopping”, after which with any luck, there will be ample time for a spot of inexpensive dining followed by a close inspection of the ample figures belonging to those delightful ladies up there at Pedlar’s Lane bathhouse, whom I understand, usually prefer to keep themselves hidden away from prying eyes. Dash it… Awfully sorry ladies!

  • I’ve bought six new IKEA glasses but one of them got broken when I washed it for the first time. Of course, I wouldn’t just throw it away, as well as my daughter couldn’t throw away a Camellia blossom she has found fallen at the ground two days later… / I believe these two imperfect subjects made a perfect combination. What do you think?

  • Black glass magic – I had gone on this shoot with a bad attitude, expecting the sky to be bland and the day to be a waste of time, and therefore I set the camera on large jpg so I wouldn’t waste too much computer space….As it turned out, I’ve managed to drag out some amazing results. This is another straight from the camera image, although I had to take it into PS to straighten the horizon…. Canon 5D Mk II, 16-35mm at 16mm, f/10, 90seconds, ISO 50, Hoya NDX400, Singh Ray 3 stop reverse grad, Lee 0.9 ND grad, tripod, cable release, lots of guessing….I should point out the red sky is enhanced by the Singh Ray filter, which seems to put a colour cast across the ND area when used in conjunction with the Lee filter…. - / SEASCAPES / NEW ZEALAND / PEOPLE

  • Yesterday was, quite simply, a rotten day in many ways, however I did have a very short time with the lovely Arnavaz, who came to my studio to be photographed by a couple of friends. They were still at it by the time I arrived home from work, so I grabbed the first camera that I could find quickly, and started shooting. Turns out it was the Canon 5D, and the lens on it was the Lensbaby composer at f/4. This was my first go with the lens, apart from a couple of shots in class, and I’m VERY impressed!!! • I worked on this for ages a while back & just couldn’t get it right. So I put it away for a couple of months & re-visited it today…... & everything just fell into place….. / sometimes you just need to clear your head, & make a fresh start.
