an image capturing the factors that impact on the “quality” of a photographic image. A window, glass, made opaque due to medium density housing regulations, dirty due to water restrictions, the sky and sunshine still fall on the fence that seperates us from strangers. The camera captures this everyday scene, the negative has imperfections, dust attaching itself to its surface during drying, or is pressed between it and the glass during scanning. The scanned image once again “loses” some of what was originally visible, printing the image again brings in imperfections in paper and ink. Yet even with these limitations and imperfections, the power and essence of the image remains. photographer: Chris Zissiadis / camera: Holga 120N

This was not ps, It’s a photograph of reflections only, then added a dash of shadow and light with picasa2 / I started practicing this in the summer to see what I could get. I did some more today and chose this one to display…I’m not sure how I feel about it yet because It’s still new. / This will probably be the only one I put up, I just wanted to try something different. I think I’m losing my mind with my water droplet addiction lol :)
Saganasghee Slough in the forest preserves south of Chicago. This side of the slough has blessed me several times with nice vistas in the morning.
The only change I made to this photograph was with the curves I twigged the color in it a bit but I personally love the effect. He was such the poser you will see :) I have a few dragonfly photo’s but to keep it from being boring I will only post the ones that are very different in feeling and effect. Thanks for viewing. FYI: this is my very first time capturing a dragonfly! Wasn’t the water still !

This pic is as it was when I captured it. 2 Nights ago we had a small ice storm, it left about 2 centimeters of ice on every roof, electric lines and every trees in the locality, I have my share of trees surrounding the house, lilac, pines, maples, cedars and bushes of all kind. / Yesterday night was a full moon, the sky was clear of all clouds and the moonlight was very bright with no fog, here are some photos of a series I took around the house, some in total blackness with no street lights to disturb the beautiful bluish rays and hues of the moon and some have a little spark coming from the orange tinted lamp post we have as street lights in front of my house. / This is much better viewed larger, you’ll see… / Hope you enjoy the pics and thank you for viewing! 1-WOOOOOOW! Black glass magic – I had gone on this shoot with a bad attitude, expecting the sky to be bland and the day to be a waste of time, and therefore I set the camera on large jpg so I wouldn’t waste too much computer space….As it turned out, I’ve managed to drag out some amazing results. This is another straight from the camera image, although I had to take it into PS to straighten the horizon…. Canon 5D Mk II, 16-35mm at 16mm, f/10, 90seconds, ISO 50, Hoya NDX400, Singh Ray 3 stop reverse grad, Lee 0.9 ND grad, tripod, cable release, lots of guessing….I should point out the red sky is enhanced by the Singh Ray filter, which seems to put a colour cast across the ND area when used in conjunction with the Lee filter…. - / SEASCAPES / NEW ZEALAND / PEOPLE

/ FEATURED IN THE GROUP: Top Shelf Wildlife & Nature / FEATURED IN THE GROUP: Butterflies, Skippers, Moths, & Other Winged Insects The common English name for this remarkable butterfly is glasswing, which in itself speaks volumes about the appearance of this small but unusual insect. However, it takes the romance languages to step in and give the butterfly the name which, for many, suits it best. The Spanish name for the glasswing is ‘espejitos’. Literally translated, this means ‘little mirrors’. Just a glance at the insect in question and one can imagine the thrill of pleasure when the moment of inspiration that came to its Hispanic name giver. If you want to see ‘little mirrors’ in the wild, however, you will have to take a trip – anywhere from Mexico to Panama in Central America will do the trick.
