I was coming home yesterday from an appointment downtown, / and happened to look over and see this place. It was completely / abandoned, along with garages, a barn and cars. Didn’t go in, (yet..heh) but I got a few good shots from the front. I added the flood..(to go with the title.) / / CS3/Corel/handheld/Samsung/HDR / I can’t even begin to list all of the things I did to this. / One filter conversion to the next applying and painting certain areas with the saturation brush, then repeating the process + / overlays & more fine tuning! Thanks for checking it out. :) / / / Special thanks to Kevin Kroeker for being a major inspiration with HDR. You can check out some of his truly amazing HDR work here: click me!

Another shot taken in the Sydney Opera House while waiting to attend the Ballet last night … the teal colour is a reflection from the stormy harbour waters behind the glasses. Filters applied to give a painterly look. (See Ochre Etude for another photo taken the same evening) Look closely and you’ll see the inside of the Opera House sail structure reflected! This was taken in 1964 in the East End of London. This was before Playstations, and probably the only ‘toy’ these kids shared between them was a skipping rope. Old bomb sites still held a fascination though as a form of amusement and exploration, as can be seen here. It was taken using a Yashica Mat 120 film twin lens reflex camera that took me six months to save up for. I used Tri-X B/W film and printed on a hard grade of paper to get the punchy contrast, a characteristic of all my early B/W work. This image was photographed digitally from the original print in my portfolio.

“Mr Wegg, if you was brought here loose in a bag to be articulated, I’d name your smallest bones blindfold equally with your largest, as fast as I could pick ‘em out, and I’d sort ‘em all, and sort your vertebrae, in a manner that would equally surprise and charm you.” – Mr. Venus, Articulator – from the book Our Mutual Friend by Charles Dickens Stock: Bird: Archistock http://archistock.deviantart.com/art/Creepy-Bird-77455534 / Surgeon’s stuff: Lockstock http://lockstock.deviantart.com/art/Surgeon-s-Table-01-10250561 / Hat: Peace-of-art http://peace-of-art.deviantart.com/art/Two-Top-Hats-61892310 / http://www.sxc.hu/photo/546034 My own stock: Foxstox http://foxstox.deviantart.com/art/Abandoned-Farmhouse-83028054 / textures, all else – are mine. ©2007-2008 Aimee Stewart, Foxfires

Beach House / Mixed Media Production by Karin Taylor / from the Beach Series / ink pastel acrylic charcoal adobe photoshop canvas textured paper / One day I was thinking…..i want to just sketch something, rather than imagine it and stylise the image…..so out i went in the little broom broom car and sat opposite a very sweet little cottage near the beach one morning… It was lovely sitting in the car in the morning sun, having some lovely free time just to draw. it was such a pretty little cottage…with stained glass on the huge front door and a large verandah, it must’ve been very old as they don’t build ‘em like this these days :) ..probably an old queenslander the palms were swaying over the top, and the gardens all overgrown…. Once I got home i added some colour, and a lot later played a little with it in photoshop, using a filter and bumping the colours up
