Australian Brushtail Possum in my Gladstone Bag. He turned up a while ago and liked his new apartment. I occasionally give him a piece of fruit which he seems to appreciate. PS since I posted this there has been a little drama which had a kinda happy ending.
This disused old silo was photographed in the late afternoon autumn sunlight at Gladstone , between Port Macquarie and South West Rocks , NSW, Australia, on a Port Macquarie Panthers Camera Club day trip. There is a small town in Manitoba called Gladstone. The “town giant” or icon for that little town is called “Happy Rock”. Get it?
Delicious autumn! My very soul is wedded to it, and if I were a bird I would fly about the earth seeking the successive autumns. Mary Ann Evans (1819 – 1880)

This image was taken after I was unwillingly told to go on a morning work at the Marina with my family. (Spinnaker Park) Unknowingly I took the photo between two palms, this happened only because one was blocking my view. Nikon D90 / With a fogged up NIKKOR 55-200mm DX. / Landscape mode, with manual focus on.
Image taken from my front yard, Gladstone, Queensland. Nikon D90 / 18-55mm NIKKOR DX lens / Focal length: 55mm / Shutter: 1/30th sec. / Aperture: f16 / ISO: 100
This door is all that separates the former Port Curtis Dairy from the outside world. The dairy was operational in Gladstone Qld from 1904 – 1980.
This is another early morning photo I managed to capture at Gladstone Marina. I looked up and spotted this one star in the sky—I was lucky that the early morning sun had slightly melted some of the fog off my lens and managed to take this photo. Nikon D90 / NIKKOR 55-200mm DX VR-on / Focal: 55mm / Full auto mode
This photo was a fluke. I thought my lens had fog on it as it was freezing cold and raining, So took a test photo but I forgot I had a 30 second shutter on. The yellow lights are street lights, green is the waterfall lights I have no idea what the aqua coloured ones are though. I didn’t know whether to upload it or not, but decided to. I like it, anyways. Nikon D90 / 55-200mm NIKKOR DX, VR-on / Focal length: 55mm / Aperture: f13 / Shutter: 30 seconds / ISO: 1600
Okay, the sunrise wasn’t really blue. / This yacht was anchored just outside the marina one morning, I was absolutely fascinated by it for some reason. I took probably 50 photos of it. (All keepers) Finally I decided to use this one. I originally wanted to do some sort of black and white job to it, but it looked overly black where the water and sky meet. I just ended up using GIMP and added some blue and upped the contrast. Gladstone’s Land, a 17th century, six storey building that stands on the north side of Edinburgh’s Lawnmarket, not far down the Royal Mile from Edinburgh Castle, is one of the oldest buildings in Edinburgh, Scotland. The first storey flat is a small museum with period furniture (sculpted Scotch bed and Dutch chests) and period decoration (in particular the painted ceilings). The highlight is The Painted Chamber, a bedroom that comes complete with some of the best original ceiling and wall decoration in Scotland. Nearby is the main living room, The Green Room, while elsewhere on this level is a kitchen, with a fold out bed for a servant, and other recreated rooms that complete the accommodation. Within the city, a series of wynds (lanes) and closes (alleys) ran down the sides of the ridge at right angles to the Kingis Hie Street (now the High Street or Royal Mile). Plots of land were purchased, mainly by merchants, on the sloping sides of the ridge. These plots were known as Tenements (now a generic name for a multi-unit dwelling made up of several apartments (US), or flats (UK)), and the buildings that came to be erected on them were called Lands. Far too many of the unique buildings that once – literally – packed Edinburgh’s Old Town have been lost in the cause of “improvement”. But some of the original Old Town still remains, in the form of the dense pattern of wynds and closes that fall away either side of the Royal Mile, and, in a few cases, in the form of original surviving buildings. Gladstone’s Land is the most important of them. Gladstone’s Land is an Historic Scotland Category A Listed Building (HB Number 29233).
