At the end of Lake St Claire, the deepest lake in Tasmania, the shoreline is made up of a glacial moraine, many small rocks tumbled down the mountains by water, ice and other rocks.

This berg was as big as a house! We were bobbing around in a little lifeboat so we could be close to these and get some photos. Our main ship, the Skorpios III, although happy to plough through ice flows would not venture closer than 1 kilometre to the glacier face. The glacier in the background is the Pope Pio XI, the largest glacier (I think) in South America. Southern Patagonia, Chile.

Mount Tahoma is the Native American (Puyallup) name for the mountain we call Rainier, the name means Mother of Water. It stands 14,410ft (4,392m) tall and is located in the Cascade Mountain Range of Washington State. The glacier in this image is Emmons Glacier and is the headwater of the White river. / I just got back from spending the last 3 days on Mt. Rainier and had to process one image before I go to bed. Every visitor to the park has an image of Mt. Rainier from this view point at Reflection Lake but not too many are willing to be on the mountain before sunrise to catch the first rays of the sun. This is my verson of everyone’s photograph of Mount Rainier at Reflection Lake. This image was processed as a HDR image.

The Athabasca Glacier has receded significantly since its greatest modern-era extent in 1844 The photo underneath is the top of it The Columbia Icefield is an icefield located in the Canadian Rockies, astride the Continental Divide of North America. The icefield lies partly in the northwestern tip of Banff and the southern end of Jasper National Park. It is about 325 km² in area, 100 to 365 metres (328’ to 1,197’) in depth and receives up to seven metres (23 feet) of snowfall per year.
