Morning rainbow, Jokulsarlon, Iceland Iceland / Belgium / Italy / France / Hungary / Spain / Sri Lanka / USA / London / Portraits / Other Jokulsarlon is a glacial lake that meets the sea in Iceland. One of the most beautiful places i have been on our little planet Earth. The tragedy is that this beautiful photo would not be possible without global warming. When in a cafe at a petrol station i saw a postcard of Jokulsarlon. One single large iceberg floating in the centre. As you can see now the lake is full. Note: The size if this work was increased using Photoshop CS2. / Best size being around the 50cm wide.

Peggy’s Cove is one of the most photographed locations in the world located in Nova Scotia, Canada. This tiny inlet boasts some spectacular scenery including huge glacial rocks, a tiny village of 40 inhabitants, and particularly the lighthouse. / The crashing Atlantic Ocean surf on these lovely rocks is fabulous.

Photograph taken on a cold sunny morning of January on the lake of Bled Slovenija. One or maybe just the most rapresentable place of my country. It is a glacial lake with an alp island dominated by a little church on it. A place like from a fairly tale.. a place full of history from the far iron era to these days. The island was always a place for spirituality. The lake is dominated by a wanderful castle on the highest rock above the lake. (You can see it on the pic) . I can only say that if you are searching for a breathtaking location on the sunny side of alps which have all.. well the lake of Bled is for sure a splendid choice. This is a pic of the lake of Bohinj Slovenija. It ia a merged pic out of 8 images to rich the wide panorama. The lake is typicaly glacial like you can see from the valey in formation of the “U” charachter. This berg was as big as a house! We were bobbing around in a little lifeboat so we could be close to these and get some photos. Our main ship, the Skorpios III, although happy to plough through ice flows would not venture closer than 1 kilometre to the glacier face. The glacier in the background is the Pope Pio XI, the largest glacier (I think) in South America. Southern Patagonia, Chile.

Background Information: / Peyto Lake is a glacier-fed lake located in Banff National Park in the Canadian Rockies. The lake itself is easily accessed from the Icefields Parkway. It was named for Ebenezer William Peyto, an early trail guide and trapper in the Banff area. The lake is formed in a valley of the Waputik Range, between Caldron Peak, Peyto Peak and Mount Jimmy Simpson, at an elevation of 1,860 m (6,100 ft). During the summer, significant amounts of glacial rock flour flow into the lake, and these suspended rock particles give the lake a bright, turquoise color. Because of its bright color, photos of the lake often appear in illustrated books, and area around the lake is a popular sightseeing spot for tourists in the park. The lake is best seen from Bow Summit, the highest point on the Icefield Parkway. The lake is fed by the Peyto Creek, which drains water from the Caldron Lake and Peyto Glacier (part of the Wapta Icefield), and flows into the Mistaya River. Instead it is known for the force of the falling water due to the quantity of water flowing. Even on a cold morning in the fall, copious amounts of water flow over the falls. A layer of hard quartzite has allowed the falls to cut into the softer limestone below carving the short gorge and a number of potholes. White water rafting often starts below the falls to travel downstream on the Athabasca River to Jasper, Alberta. It is a class 5 waterfall, with a drop of 80 ft (24 m) and a width of 60 ft (18 m). Trümmelbachfälle (Trümmelbach waterfalls) is a unique-in-Europe series of waterfalls inside the mountain. Trümmelbach brook alone drains the whole glaciated area of Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau with up to 20.000 liters per second! Take a lift through the mountain and get fascinated by the power of water… Photographing the waterfalls was all but easy: difficult lighting with very high contrast between lit water and dark rocks, long exposures of several seconds, best views being often from bridges trembling due to both tourists’ steps and enormous water masses, omnipresent spray of glacial water and everything wet… Fascinating experience, I have spent two great hours photographing, completely forgetting about the rest of my family… Lauterbrunnental, Switzerland.
