Girraween (Place of Flowers) National Park southern Queensland, Australia.
I’ve climbed the pyramid in Girraween many times. This was the first time I photographed the balancing rock. The funny thing was, I just did a quick search of the web to find the official name of the rock, and I found a photo taken from nearly exactly the same angle, with some slight differences in the lighting and weather. What can I say. Great minds think alike. (Mines better though ;))
This rock formation is known as The Pyramid. It is located in Girraween national park on the border of Queensland and NSW.
Laughing Kookaburra (Dacelo novaeguineae) greeting the campsite. Castle Rock camp ground, Girraween National Park, Queensland, Australia.
Girraween National Park is located within the ‘granite belt’ of southern Queensland. The town of Stanthorpe is around 25kms north. A great place to bushwalk, bird watch, camp, and of course, to enjoy some fine photography!
This star trail was taken at Girraween National Park as part of the camping trip with the Brisbane Meetup group on Flickr. 45 minutes at F5.6, ISO200. Noise reduction not turned on, as it was getting late and I wasn’t sure about shooting Star trails. I do like this composition and the reflection in the water for a first decent attempt at Star Trails
Taken at Girraween National Park at sunset. Such a great time just before the sun dips below the horizon to get the amazing warm orange light on the rocks. Note the small white marking in the foreground – these take you around further up the rock, but alas I as not quite game to walk up there given the sheer drop of the cliff face. Virtually no post process on this one – just the Punch preset in Lightroom and a straightening of the horizon.
Taken in the Girraween National Park on the border of Qld and NSW (But still in Qld :D). / The hill in the distance is called The Pyramid / I really like the colours in this one, moving from red to orange, yellow, green and then blue.
