A bad day for hanging
Just a brilliant unplanned moment on the street when I was fortunate enough to “have the camera rolling”... / Geneva, 2006.
My daughter at the lake looking for something special in the water. Could not resist taking this shot! /

To create this image, I posed inside a life size wooden frame, and placed a sheer fabric behind me to fill the frame. We all spend a part of each day, just waiting for something…a phone call…a bus to come…the traffic to move…the kettle to boil…a holiday…a pay rise…love…happiness…success…a file to upload. / Perhaps you’ve been waiting your whole life for something to happen? / Or maybe it’s just about to…any minute now.
Heart Built on Tears These are individually placed waterdrops on a CD. The colors come from how the light is refracted on the surface. It’s really easy to arrange shapes since you can just drag the drop with any sharp object and it will stay perfectly spherical and not loose any water :) So this is a bit feminine, but boo double standards :) / These are the descriptions I give on dA —-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—- / Location: Portland, OR / Date: August 30th, 2008 / —-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—- Camera: Canon Digital Rebel XSi (450D) / Lens: Canon Macro Lens EF-s 60mm f/2.8 / Focal Length: 60 mm / Flash: Built-In Shutter Speed: 1/60 sec / Aperture: 2.8 / ISO: 400 / — MY PHOTOGRAPHS ARE COPYRIGHTED AND NOT FOR USE OF STOCK, CANNOT BE REDISTRIBUTE, EDITED, AND/OR COPIED WITHOUT MY PERMISSION. Many many images edited in CS3…lots of detail so look closely…:)....the little girl is my youngest dressed up as Dorthy (she is a big fan :) )....this was a shared project with her…she chose the theme and where things would go and what was added…..she really enjoys watching me work in photoshop and many times lends her thoughts on my images…sometimes I listen….like her though sometimes I am stubborn and do it my way :) lol
Image for Calendar …made a few changes to it so i could use it in the calendar
One of 26 images for a new manuscript for a children’s picture book…… this is a combination of photography, vector, drawings and a special recipe for the overall effect. I wanted to stay with the shadows because I love the challenge of allowing little ones to use their imagination to visualize the character they want to see. I started this manuscript with my youngest as my inspiration, she loves cupcakes. I had a blast writing the Lilliput picture book and my kids really enjoyed it. I am really proud of all the hard work and how it turned out and I cannot wait until it finds a home at a house. Until then I want to keep writing and make up the illustrations. I love the challenge and the expression on my kids faces with the images that I turn out. btw…. / The cupcake is actually a first attempt over a year ago to design vector art. I never deleted it, thank goodness :).
She is regal, she is royal, she is every woman, she is you, she is me…she is strong in body mind and soul, she is timeless,...she is wise, she is free, this woman, “The Queen”... The Fourth in the series, her face is half turned to the viewer, looking away, conscious of her dignity, regal in her bearing, as if carved from the rarest wood... I have named you queen. / There are taller ones than you, taller. / There are purer ones than you, purer. / There are lovelier than you, lovelier. But you are the queen. When you go through the streets / no one recognizes you. / No one sees your crystal crown, no one looks / at the carpet of red gold / that you tread as you pass, / the nonexistent carpet. And when you appear / all the rivers sound / in my body, bells / shake the sky, / and a hymn fills the world. Only you and I, / only you and I, my love, / listen to it. Be quiet. / Don’t talk. / Listen. / And in the quiet / I heard whispers / Of ways and paths. / In the quiet / Direction given, / Hope shown. / In the quiet / Faith built. / On quietness. / The stillness of the wind / As it moves around / Not through / The path of trees / That stand firmly in the way. / Eyes open wide / To see, / Ears to hear / The Truth. / Spoken quietly / From a quiet heart. I. Brown Acrylic and Watercolour on Fabriano Paper / The Plea / Le Maquillage / The Queen / The Masquerade / The Cameo
/ In my goal to portray women in all guises and emotions, here is the latetst addition to the collection..”The Temptation”....we all know what the feeling…temptation comes in many disguises…is she the temptress, or has she been tempted?make of her what you will… / When I was halfway through painting it, I remembered a picture I had seen in a magazine advertising lipstick….the model had her fingers on the open lips…. I thought they would be a perfect addititon to the painting, but I needed to see them again, just to be sure…. I frantically dug through my recycling bin (luckily we are having a garbage strike and everthing is still here) and found the picture…..the fingers were just what I needed…it was apparent that the picture had been buried in my subconscious, just waiting to emerge in this painting….I made the modifications to the image and here it is Acrylic and watercolour on Fabriano Paper.. FEATURED IN.. .. / CREATIVE CARDS / THE OUTSIDERS / THE DIVINE FEMININE / TOP TEN CHALLENGE WIN IN PAINTED LADIES THE Demon, in my chamber high, / This morning came to visit me, / And, thinking he would find some fault, / He whispered: “I would know of thee Among the many lovely things / That make the magic of her face, / Among the beauties, black and rose, / That make her body’s charm and grace, Which is most fair?” Thou didst reply / To the Abhorred, O soul of mine: / “No single beauty is the best / When she is all one flower divine. When all things charm me I ignore / Which one alone brings most delight; / She shines before me like the dawn, / And she consoles me like the night. The harmony is far too great, / That governs all her body fair, / For impotence to analyse / And say which note is sweetest there. O mystic metamorphosis! / My senses into one sense flow— / Her voice makes perfume when she speaks, / Her breath is music faint and low!” ..Baudelaire / The Quiet / The Plea / Le Maquillage / The Queen / The Masquerade / The Cameo
“Beauty is not a need but an ecstasy. / It is not a mouth thirsting nor an empty hand stretched forth, / But rather a heart enflamed and a soul enchanted. / It is not the image you would see nor the song you would hear, / But rather an image you see though you close your eyes and a song you hear though you shut your ears. / It is not the sap within the furrowed bark, nor a wing attached to a claw, / But rather a garden forever in bloom and a flock of angels for ever in flight. / Beauty is life when life unveils her holy face. / But you are life and you are the veil. / Beauty is eternity gazing at itself in a mirror. / But you are eternity and you are the mirror”. Who is Silvia? what is she, / That all our swains commend her? / Holy, fair, and wise is she; / The heaven such grace did lend her, / That she might admirèd be. / Is she kind as she is fair? / For beauty lives with kindness. / Love doth to her eyes repair, / To help him of his blindness, / And, being helped, inhabits there. / Then to Silvia let us sing, / That Silvia is excelling; / She excels each mortal thing / Upon the dull earth dwelling: / To her let us garlands bring...Shakespeare Watercolour on Arches Not Paper FEATURED IN THE FOLLOWING GROUPS… / CREATIVE CARDS.. / IMPRESSIONIST ART / FINE ART / The Riddle / Illusion / The Wish / Virtue / The Party / The Beauty / The Star / The Night / The Temptation / The Quiet / The Plea / Le Maquillage
As in Bathsheba Everdene, from Thomas Hardy’s “Far from the Madding Crowd”...within a short time of arriving at her aunt’s house, Bathsheba has the neighbouring young men at her feet…independent, beautiful and intelligent, she rises quickly when she inherits her uncle’s farm, then shocks everyone by deciding to manage it herself…..her three suitors are each determined to marry her.. / “The book (which I have read a zillion times), has been described as an early piece of feminist literature, since it features an independent woman with the courage to defy convention by running a farm herself. Although Bathsheba’s passionate nature leads her into serious errors of judgment, Hardy endows her with sufficient resilience, intelligence, and good luck to overcome her youthful folly”.wiki Watercolour on Arches Not Paper / Katharine / Sylvia / The Riddle / Illusion / The Wish / Virtue / The Party / The Beauty / The Star / The Night / The Temptation / The Quiet / The Plea / Le Maquillage
