As it is school holidays and I am always looking for ways to entertain the kids – I thought what better way than to put them in front of the camera. I mean what little girl doesn’t love dressing up? And the bonus…I get to practice my photography!!! The girls had an absolute ball and I have ended up with over 300 photos. My dilema now is choosing the best ones as there are so many great shots!! I thought I would share 4 of my favourites with you…

Many of you I believe realize that I find modeling to be a very empowering art form. I do honestly believe that modeling in itself is art. It is an art that requires the utmost in self discipline, creativity, and vision. We models are asked to act and to portray emotion without movement or speech. We are sttaionary mimes that are expected to amongst other things give an aura of beauty and sexiness. Photography with models is a team effort unlike any other. It requires two personalities to click and to create mutually and share a vision. often times if there is a proper mix and connection the creativity knows no bounds. So why the title? I will explain. I was once a member of DeviantArt. I left for several reasons one of which was adminstrative abuse the other being that DA had become a lowbrow “porn site” for gawkers and lurkers who never posted art but only made comments and ‘collected” pics of nude girls. In my first incarnation at DA I did traditional 1940s-50s era pinup art. You know the naive, cutesy “Girl with hooked skirt” type thing. I was not the type of girl to show who and what I was really into. I was portraying a cute and innocent image. I find it interesting that the image of the cutsey pinup girl seems to draw more pervs and lurid comments than anything else. For some reason men will react that way towards this imagery. i wondered why and I finally got it. Pinup imagery is mostly about vulnerability, lack of power and lack of initiative. It celebrates the idea that the girl is not a party to the action happening, her exposure is an “accident”. Her very existence is that of a powerless waif. One waiting for a man to come rescue her. OK so where do I factor in? Well Im not dumb, I dont need to be resuced and I despise being gawked at or denying my true self. That said I realized an interesting and obvious thing. Perverts, gawkers and lurkers FEAR POWER !They fear a girl with power, with boldness, and with initiative. They fear it and they shy away from it like a vampire from garlic. To them it stinks of something else though, not garlic but a stiff numbing kick to the privates. So dear ladies many of whom watch my photos and comment regularly I invite you to chime in and to let me know what you think of my perceptions. I love your opinions and in many ways I am here trying to inspire you as well as empower myself. Many think that nudity and such artforms as this are demeaning to women and many are right. I do feel that things like Playboy with the airheaded, pouty blonde silicone bimbos are demeaning and insulting to women. The stupification of women and the treatment of us as a commodity seems to be making a strong comeback and lately Mr. hefner seems to be capitalizing on it more than ever. That said I also feel that societies desexualization of women is even more demeaning. It seems that society only takes you serously if you completely subdue and eliminate your sexuaIity. I see no reason why empowerment and equality means I cannot punctuate the very things that physically and spiritually differentiate us from men. I enjoy my sexuality. i enjoy being VERY different men, I dont see why thats a crime.

Yes I failed at fetish. Is that a bad thing? No I dont think so. Failure in art is never a bad thing. I know that may sound like a bold, almost silly statement but I honestly believe it. I think of failure in art as something that is simply directing me further down the road to my intended purpose and calling. I think that failure in general can be a positive thing if viewed correctly. To not accept failure is to be insane because as a wise man once said “insanity is repeating the same actions hoping to get a different result”. As people and even as artists our purpose is to find ourselves and achieve happiness, failure along the way simply means that we wouldnt be happy there anyway. So this brings me to photography, modeling and our art. I failed at fetish, I failed miserably and I dont care. I cant be that scowling, tortured, overly dramatic girl in a grungy, confined, bound, gagged, hog tied, hanging from the ceiling like a side of beef encased in rubber sort of thing. Simply cant do it. Awhile back we tried to branch out and made the mistake of trying to appeal to the “desires of the masses” and the conept of “give the people what they want”. It seems to me that leather, whips, latex, restraints, ball gags, and yes even gas masks ( why that is “sexy” I dont know) seem to be the gimmick of the moment. We thought “perhaps there is something we are missing”,” maybe if we just try it”, “maybe we are missing out”. We tried it, laughed our way through the entire session and what the end result is that we came up with some, kind of cute, photos of me decked out in a corset and boots and smiling and having fun( pics are posted) . Thats just who I am. I am happy, I laugh, I like cute, frilly girlie stuff, flowers, kitties, having a cute house, furry animals and flowers and wearing cute clothes. I am not a rubber encased post apocalyptic temptress that sends conglomerate of contradictory messages of submission, domination, lust, love and violence. So why the long journal? Well I think that honesty is the best policy. I cant lie and give you, the public what you want if that isnt in my heart and in my soul. I am just too damn honest I guess. What you see is what you get and that is the truth of it. So yes folks if you are optimistic enough you will see that there are lessons to be learned even in failure and yes at times failure can be a good thing. XOXOXOXOXOXO Sincerely Mlle Audrey

Hello all of my Red Bubble friends. I have been here for about a month now and as an artist and model I wonder how good of a job I am doing. Am I getting the message and aesthetic across. I decided that i would ask all of you wonderful folks for your opinion. I am hoping to find out which of my shots are your favorites. Which style do you like best? Would love as much honesty as possible. I figured that this being an artistic community I would take advantage of the community aspect and ask you all to collaborate with me this way. Looking forward to hearing what you have to say !! XOXOXOXOXO Miss Audrey

New series, same model. / Some time ago my best friend was kind enough to model for me in the ‘Afternoon with my angel’ (read journal here). / This time the photos featured in my gallery are from Miss Songkran International 2009 at Khaosan Road, Bangkok, Thailand. That night she won the second runner-up of the show. Before the competition she told me the winner was already selected, which explained why she didn’t win that night. A real shame, because she was clearly the most beautiful girl on stage by far. / I would like to thank her for inviting me to the show, I had a great time! And I also like to say that she’s always be my number one.

I figure that this might be interesting for anyone who creates nude art. I certainly found it interesting. In my day job I work for an NPR affiliate station and when I got to my desk this morning I turned on my radio and heard an interesting interview about nude modeling. Read more at NPR.org enjoy!
