  • This shot was taken in Montreal’s Gay Village area, way back in 2005, with a film-based Canon EOS 3000. I was on a very tight schedule that morning, as I had to check out of my hotel and catch a flight to Toronto, where I had a rental car waiting for me to head out to Muskoka for a few days. But I’d been told by a Montrealer that I had to spend at least half an hour photographing the sights in this part of the city – and there was certainly no shortage of things to shoot. This huge (yes, H U G E) figurine was on an exterior wall and I took this and a couple of other frames from the main street. Maybe it was a punk rock venue. Or a pink rock venue. (Did I make the flight to Toronto? Yup. With time to spare? Yup. Any hitches? Er, um, not unless you count the fact that I Ieft my blazer and formal trousers behind in the Montreal hotel – the Queen Elizabeth. Did the story end well? Yup – the hotel flew the clothes to Port Carling, Muskoka, for me.) ..... Okay, so I’m used to the wisecracks about that incident being the first time a guest’s clothes arrived before the guest!

  • This shot, along with the other 3 that you can see, was taken in the Victorian Village inside Flambards, Helston, Cornwall, UK. Regardless of the signs, they do allow photography in the Village, but without flash. / I changed my white balance to Tungsten and the ISO to 1600 which seemed to work well, should you ever visit there. Sepia effect added in CS3. I hope you like them. / Thanks for looking.
