  I think the castaways were very fortunate on Gilligan’s Island. They had a sense of shared community, and the well being of each of the whole was always important. I wonder what it would be like if there were true societies like that. On Lost, there are too many castaways and the sense of oneness is not there. The way it should be in families, but it sometimes gets lost when siblings marry and move away and start their own families. We are still the same blood, and no amount of distance can erase that. Even in families, when someone feels they have made it they tend to forget the rest of the village. Life becomes materialistic, and the sense of shared community is gone. Mind you I’m not talking about communism, because communism is based on a totalitarian society, its a police state. No, rather socialism is different. Mind you, I don’t think of myself as a socialist, but what is wrong with considering the whole instead of just the individual. If the bottom falls out, eventually the top half is going to fall through eventually. We’ll fall first, we’ll be homeless first, we’ll lose our houses first, we’ll lose our jobs first and our health insurance, but eventually they’ll follow suit. Because Rome was destroyed by its decadent nature, and eventually was overtaken by the barbarians, the hordes on the outside. Isn’t that what’s happening to us? Mind you I love being an American, and I know all of you are not Americans. But I love America, as I am sure you too love your own countries whatever they are. But we need to be proud of our governments, and the decisions they make. Because the entire community must be a sense of shared community. We must all share the resources, be it medicine or water, or food. On Gilligan’s Island, they shared the resources. Mind you I understand there were only seven castaways, but the basic principle must be the same. Only when the entire body is healthy, will the country truly function the way it was meant to. Some of us, many of us are hurting, arms have gangrene, eyes are going blind, teeth are rotting, and damn something needs to be done to correct the body that is decaying. The head better do something, because eventually it’s going to shut down, because all of it’s pieces are dying and in dire need. So, let’s remember the sweetness of the castaways, Gilligan, Skipper, Mary Ann, Ginger, Mr. and Mrs. Howell, and the professor. copyright2009misfit1965
