The Giles Track is a road I travel down every week and I always make sure that I pull up let the crew jump out to get a few snaps and play in the sand for a while. The Track itself is a short cut from Luritja Rd which is the access road for Kings Canyon and the Stuart Highway which is the only North – South highway in the centre of Australia. It stretches a distance of 100km and covers many different environmental systems from red sand dunes through gibber plains to the unknown and unphotographed James Ranges. This road is suitable for 4×4 only but this doesn’t stop insane tourist from destroying their rental cars and campers along this road. At different times of year the track can be covered in deep sand resulting in cars with low clearance getting bogged up to the axles. I have lost count of the times that I have been the first on the scene and had to totally destroy my afternoon digging and dragging them out. Phone Box In Alport Village.Derbyshire.UK Photo Express Colour Edited. The red telephone box, a public telephone kiosk designed by Sir Giles Gilbert Scott, is a familiar sight on the streets of the United Kingdom, Malta, Bermuda and Gibraltar, and despite a reduction in their numbers in recent years, red boxes can still be seen in many places and current or ex-British Colonies around the world. The colour red was chosen to make them easy to spot. /

St Giles’ Cathedral is the historic City Church of Edinburgh, Scotland. With its famed crown spire it stands near the top of the Royal Mile between Edinburgh Castle and the Palace of Holyroodhouse. Also known as the High Kirk of Edinburgh, it is the Mother Church of Presbyterianism and contains the Chapel of the Order of the Thistle (Scotland’s chivalric company of knights headed by the Queen). St Giles’ was founded in the 1120s when the Scottish royal family, the sons of Queen (Saint) Margaret and King Malcolm Canmore, especially David I (1124-1153) made strenuous efforts to spread Catholic Christian worship throughout the Scottish lowlands. Standing in Parliament Square and part of the Royal mile in Edinburgh, Scotland, is St Giles Cathedral. It is especially bound to John Knox, who was its minister from 1559 to 1572 and preached an uncompromising Calvinist message launching the Scottish Reformation. Referred to as the High Kirk of Edinburgh, St Giles has been watching over Edinburgh spiritually for over 900 years. It was the political and religious centre of Edinburgh for most of the Middle Ages. Between 1909 and 1911 a chapel for the Knights of the Thistle was added at the south east corner of the church. The Thistle Chapel measures just 37ft by 18ft but is extremely richly decorated. Robert Lorimer designed the Thistle Chapel in a very particular Scottish style with angels playing bagpipes. This chapel is related to the Order of the Thistle, which is Scotland’s highest order of chivalry instituted by James II in 1687. A new addition is the Burns window in 1985 showing themes from the poetry of Robert Burns. Information supplied by Wikipedia.
