I have always assumed that raccoons live just about everywhere. However, they are found in most of the United States except for parts of the Rocky Mountains, central Nevada, Utah and Arizona. They are also found in southern Canada and from Mexico to northern South America. Photographed at Juniper Springs Wilderness Preserve, located in the Ocala National Forest, Florida. They have one of the best canoe runs in Florida there for those who like it! Also from Juniper Springs Wilderness Preserve / /
The Sea Venture was one of the first ships to arrive in Bermuda. It was thrown accidentally off course by a hurricane and landed on the reefs intact. Its original course was with a fleet from England headed towards / Jamestown, Virginia to aid in the colonization. From being shipwrecked, the crew and passengers of the Sea Venture settled in Bermuda and benefitted from its tropical paradise and set up a small colony. This painting is a Mixed Media piece, combining original digital photography taken in Bermuda by me SBC, with my painting, and drawings. It is intended to capture the natural and surreal beauty of Bermuda through my eyes. This art won an Honorable Mention Award in the Rowayton Art Show in 2006 and First Place in the Darien Art Show in 2007. It is presently being considered for exhibition at the Royal Navy Dockyard Museum in Bermuda. Thank you for your interest, comments and purchases!

Featured in National Parks of the World – Dec 2008. Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park, Northern Territory, Australia. Captured today… I jumped in my trusty old Toyota Landcruiser (Barry) and headed bush to chase this spectacular storm front. It was such an exhilarating adventure! We have now enjoyed several weeks of ongoing storm activity here in the desert. Today’s wild and rainy storms began at around eight this morning. Throughout the day, storm front after storm front has rolled over the desert, bringing with them heavy rain and exhilarating electrical activity. We have endured hail today, strong winds and even a lightning strike which sparked a small blaze in the National Park. And all of these incredible storm sessions were punctuated by bright sunshine and warm temperatures. Wow, I am thoroughly exhausted from following the weather today. I think I have storm-photographing-fatigue. / (A new member of the Elite Storm Chaser Squadron…) Uluru, Central Australia. Monday 24th November 2008. Lord of the Indian Jungles, The Royal Bengal Tiger, Portrait The Bengal Tiger, or Royal Bengal is a subspecies of tiger primarily found in Bangladesh, India, and also Nepal, Pakistan, Bhutan, Myanmar and southern Tibet. It is the most common tiger subspecies, living in a variety of habitats, including grasslands, subtropical and tropical rain forests, scrub forests, wet and dry deciduous forests, and mangroves. Since the early 1990s the tiger population has begun to decline again, due to habitat destruction and large-scale poaching for tiger skins and bones. The Bangladeshi government is trying hard to show the world that the tiger is thriving in Bangladesh, often using controversial techniques like taking molds of paw prints to track tiger populations. It was recently discovered that tigers have been wiped out from one of Project Tiger’s leading sanctuaries, Sariska. The current population of wild Bengal tigers in the Indian subcontinent is now estimated to be between 1,300 and 1,500 which is less than half of the previous estimate of 3,000-4,500 tigers. This estimate is based on a state-by-state census conducted in India in 2001. Today’s reports show there are fewer than 200 tigers left in the wild. Habitat losses and the extremely large scale incidences of poaching are serious threats to species survival. Poachers kill tigers not only for their pelts, but also for body parts used to make various traditional East Asian medicines. Other factors contributing to their loss are urbanization and revenge killing. Farmers blame tigers for killing cattle and will shoot them. Poachers also kill tigers for their bones and teeth to make medicines that are alleged to provide the tiger’s strength. The hunting for Chinese medicine and fur is the biggest cause of decline of the tigers. In India, retired Indian Army personnel are being recruited to save the Bengal tiger from poaching gangs.

/ We stopped by Minter Gardens on our way home from our roadtrip to Harrison BC in October…..I took a couple of photographs before I realized that the garden was actually closed to the public and we were not supposed to be there (oops). The original photograph was taken using the pop art filter in camera, which made the colour looks quite psychedelic . I have added several texture layers and have desaturated the colours a bit (believe it or not). I realize this won’t appeal to everyone, but as a lover of strong and bold colour I am kind of partial to it :))
