Completed in 2004, age 17 This is a slightly cropped version of the original, due to the limits of my camera. My original signature got cropped out so I had to insert a new one in photoshop; in the original it is not actually located there. Original size: (40” x 30”) The two subjects are posed in similar positions, each having a dark, circular central focus., Both images have lines above and surrounding the centres, which draw attention towards the centres. The vertical composition help strenghten the feeling of height given by the vertical lines. Both subjects are organic, however one, the eye, has straight lines and geometrical shapes, while the rose has curvy lines and organic shapes. In the eye, the centre is literally dark, while in the flower the darkness is created by shadows. Featured In: / -Still Life And Food Photography / -Fabulous Flowers The roses that were my Valentine’s gift have dried and the pottery vase from my daughter has just been waiting for the right ‘something’ to fill it. My plan with these photographs of my daughter’s pottery is to photograph as many of her pieces as possible before they’ve all been given away so she’ll have a record of her work. I’ve mentioned before that I find roses difficult to photograph. Well, dried roses are even worse! LoL The camera picks up every very dry area and makes a spectacular blown-out highlight. You wouldn’t think a photograph of roses would be accompanied by some rather awful growling noises on the part of the photographer but maybe those growls added some texture. :-D HollyCawfieldPhotography

This one is about the connection we have with our loved ones, roses always speak volumes about beauty, love, romance…......and wanting to connect…...what happens we we give and receive roses, why do we give and receive them…..it’s really sentimental stuff…..ahh where would we be without all that roses say for us, through us, about us, to others :) I hope you like my “Sweet Rosie”.....these roses are for you :)
