The original castle was built in 1220 for Alexander II as a defence against the Vikings. By the late 13th century it had become a stronghold of the Mackenzies of Kintail (later the Earls of Seaforth). In 1511, the MacRaes, as protectors of the MacKenzies, became the hereditary Constables of the Castle.

In it contains all the well wishes and blessings for my friends! Here is a little poem which I love very much, it expresses the spirit behind Christmas in such a sweet and meaningful way! :D The Joy of Giving Somehow, not only for Christmas, / But all the long year through, / The joy that you give to others / Is the joy that comes back to you; / And the more you spend in blessing / The poor and lonely and sad, / The more of your heart’s possessing / Returns to make you glad. This little snuggle bunny is Mia. / She was a shelter cat, has been fixed. But now is in a home where she is loved. / She reminds me more of a teddy bear who loves to snuggle, play and Purr. Purrfect for those cold winter days. Photograph of her and my snowy winter NW Oregon Farm, was taken with my Evolt 510 camera. / Brought together to make this Holiday card.
Taken at the Charles Inn, Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario, Canada.
This elegant elephant is from a medieval banner. It resembles a chess piece & the design has a vintage feel.
