This was painted in Photo Shop on a blank file set at 300 dpi. This painting is NOT photo generated or photo manipulation. This Is Mitch. He is my creation. He is was born in Venice Italy. His mother is Italian his father… well your just going to have to wait till I get his first chapter written. His family moved to the states , NYC, when he was 6. / After his father died his mother (never very caring in the first place) took off and he was left alone to bury his father at the age of 9. The only thing of value he had was a black Journal. After reading it Mitch finds out he is much more than just human. The continence of the journal was the history of his grandfather. Not wanting what happened to his grandfather to happen to him, Mitch takes to the streets. He spent his time growing up on the streets where he met an old blues player who taught him to play a guitar and sing the blues. That’s how he got money, singing on the streets and in joints. With his deep soulful voice and good looks getting a gig was easy. But it wasn’t enough, not for the life he wanted. / So being Italian… It was easy for him to find “other” work. He had learned to knife fight on the streets and became quite good. Then he hooks up with a small time drug lord and so it begins his true life of crime, soon Mitch becomes the right arm man for one of the biggest Mobsters in NYC…… Later , at the height of his success, just 18 Mitch unknowingly kills the Godfather’s nephew in a jealous rage, now he’s their target. / / Copyright / These Images and Writings Do Not Belong To ANY Public Domain. My origami calendar / / I feel my heart being pulled when we are not together, / Longing for the day we are with each other. / The thread between us will never break; / Our destinies are tied by the red string of fate. / / The red string of fate is based on a Chinese myth that the gods tie an invisible red string around the ankles of men and women destined to be soulmates. This myth is has been adapted into other east asian cultures as well. I first became familiar with it by watching anime; though in those cases, one would attempt to match up couples by tying their fingers. This image, while on one hand based on that Chinese legend, is one that defines me. With the red thread forming the heart, I frame what is currently my greatest passion: miniature origami. I fold using tweezers, and sometimes with needles (I show a needle here, though for these hearts I only used tweezers as they are not that small). The hearts of paper and string, while representing my passion, also represent my soul, and how my fate is bound by the constraints of life. I’m in my own little world bound by a thread of fate; though my passion lies in a world of paper. While most women primarily use needles for sowing; I primarily use them for tiny origami :P I would adjust the position of the objects here with tweezers, and sometimes got magnetic reactions between the tweezers and the needle. They say opposites attrack… but they are both metal :] Each heart was folded from a 15×15mm piece of paper. Taken with an Olympus FE-340. Great for Valentines day or as love letters, because you and your loved ones were destined by fate. \ / / Fancy Dress – a mixed media drawing and collage on calico fabric. Her face and arms are the only things drawn, using coloured pencils, pastels, watercolour crayons, marker pens. Her wings are fashioned from tiny white leaf veins The dress and her hair are crafted from felt, the trims are bits and pieces, such as lace, feathers, tiny white pebbles for the necklace and wooden shapes for her shoes peeping out. She has then been enhanced digitally, and this changed the creamy calico to a pink/salmon satin look which i was quite taken with. Christine my friend has inspired me yet again, with all the wonderful magazines she’s just given me, and my old love for cloth dolls has resurfaced…so much so that i tried to recreate a fashionable vintage cloth doll (without all the sewing) and so, i have simply layed one piece over another and carefully transferred it to where i could photograph it and then work on the rest in photoshop. I wasn’t going to load anything new prior to Christmas as thought i’d be fully immersed in family outings and such, but it’s turned out they’ve given me some lovely time to myself and spoiled me rotten….bringing me lunch in the studio and doing all my chores so i can draw! What a delightful little family I have :)
