  • We had just been talking with some of the patients at the hospital in Goma, DR Congo. Every now and then my friend Rebecca Zachariah would dissapear. She’s a Doctor so I figured she was off to see a patient. Well she was but not just for medical reasons. Bec had bought a whole lot of stuffed toys from home. Squeezed them into her pack somehow. Then during the trip, she would nick off quietly every now and then and present a little child with a furry friend. No fanfare. She didn’t even tell me until half way through the trip. These kids hardly have any clothes and certainly have little food. In the case of this gorgeous little girl the only thing we were sure she had was polio. Well at the very least after we left she had a furry bear as well. And do you think she was going to let go of it? Not in a hurry :) This photo is the November shot in the HEAL Africa calendar. – Dog photography – Africa photography / - Beach photography - Black & white photography – Dog photography – Africa photography / - Beach photography - Monotone photography

  • CHRISTMAS ….. / A time to open our hearts and remember what we came here for… This is my christmas card for YOU…all of you beautiful people here on Redbubble who have visited my work, whether just once, or many, many times…and made a difference to who I am…. you KNOW who you are. / My wish for you…... to find the core of what it is to be happy and at peace with your self…..and to love who you are….. because you are all beautiful, passionate, creative people who are lifting our planet with your art and your energy. And I see this shine in a unique way, in each and every one of you. Now, I create for many reasons….. but sometimes, when I am in pain, or sad, or trying to make sense of something, I create even more…...it helps me understand or heal. / Recently I uploaded several pieces of art, created at a time when I have been struggling with chronic pain from an ongoing disease in my legs and feet….. and it has threatened to bring me down and squash my spirits…I have felt the sadness, pain, loneliness and even a little fear….. I have also had to close down my art studio in Town because of this and felt a sense of “failure”.....suffice to say, I have created art out of a need to replace my pain and sadness, with a desire to overcome this and transform it to beauty and joy. And remember what I am really here for. / And you reminded me. I left my images for a day and when I returned, I saw the flood of comments and felt all the love from each of you who had viewed, and I sat in front of my computer and tears flowed down my face. I am overwhelmed and did not know how to thank you….so I decided to put up this image as my message back to you…. / How blessed am I to have a global family like you, because although I cannot physically see you, I can feel you, and your warmth, friendship and love truly does lift me up. So for your comments, your views, your wonderful energy that weaves it way into every thing I create and share on RB…... thank you….... / and for the creativity and sharing you bring, the amazing pieces of your world that come to me via this screen and thus become a part of my world to inspire and expand me…..THANK YOU. I wish you all a happy holiday season and wonderful year in 2009….may the light shine upon you ALL ways!

  • / / Framed Print Sweet Rosie / made from paper, pencils, charcoal, marker pen and stuff like that :) Here is a new one from my “Connections” series, all done with lots of dry media. This one is about the connection we have with our loved ones, roses always speak volumes about beauty, love, romance…......and wanting to connect…...what happens we we give and receive roses, why do we give and receive them…..it’s really sentimental stuff…..ahh where would we be without all that roses say for us, through us, about us, to others :) I hope you like my “Sweet Rosie”.....these roses are for you :)

  • Watercolor, ink, paper “Come, my lover, let us go to the countryside, let us spend the night in the villages. Let us go early to the vineyards to see if the vines have budded, if their blossoms have opened, and if the pomegranates are in bloom – there I will give you my love.” / (Songs 7:11-12) The time has come for the fruit and harvest. Remaining in God, the Soul brings a cornucopia of good fruit. The Beloved wears a dress decorated with precious stones – these are the gifts of the Holy Spirit, reflecting the glory of Christ. The palm branches on her garment are the praise and worship from her heart to the Lord. She hugs a sheaf of ripe wheat – taking care of the harvest of souls. On her banner proclaims the scripture from Hosea: “O Ephraim, what more have I to do with idols? I will answer him and care for him. I am like a green pine tree; your fruitfulness comes from me.” (Hosea 14:8)

  • I thought ths image would be nice in my origami calendar, but since Thanksgiving occur in different months in Canada and the U.S. I didn’t incude it (and there are countries that don’t even celebrate it). However I am willing to swap an image to suit prsonal preferences of make customized calendars. / / The turkey (which is really my origami chicken with my peacock tail features), along with the pumpkin were folded from 15×15mm pieces of papers. The basket was folded from a 3×3cm piece of paper (I have folded one from a 15×15mm piece before but it would have been to small for this concept). Taken with an Olympus FE-340 on Oct 25, 2009. For a better idea of scale: / / This work has been featured in: / Holidays and Special Occasions / Also available at Zazzle /
