I wanted to take this image to gauge just how big these beauties really are. When I got home and processed the shot, I was surprised as to how much it actually dwarfed me! The Black King’s Rook / Artist: Simon Sherry / Biography: Danny The Bullrock, or King’s Rook, are massive creatures created by the Shaman to carry supplies and extra weapons for the Army of the Black Spear. Strong but limited in movement due to their sheer size, they are the product of a long extinct race of Pachyderm that was gene-spliced with the last single survivor of the Giant race dwelling in the Dark Cathedrals of the Shaman’s Apothecary. Only ever used for battle, Bullrocks are treated with special care during times of non-war. (Peace isn’t a word in the Black Spear dictionary) The King is often seen in their company feeding and grooming them exclusively.

I just love painting elephants, and trying to come up with different colour combinations, it’s amazing the colours that one can make, with just four or five tubes of colour This one is painted in Acrylics on canvas and measures 1200×600 mm Although the main elephant occupies nearly half of the canvas, I wanted the direction of the clouds, the earth, and the light, to guide the eye to the smaller elephants, thus giving them just as much importance to the painting.
