An abandoned cabin just off the highway south of Lee Vining, CA, with the Sierra Nevada coming up behind. Taken at sunrise just after an early-morning shoot in Mono Lake (yes, in…), and on the way up to catch more early-morning light in Yosemite National Park. One of the best road-trips I’ve ever been on. May 2007.

The door way is part of a ghost town in Namibia. It was once where they mined diamonds, but as with nature there was a sand storm and all that was left were the skeletons of buildings. When you visit the place you are escorted by armed guards and all you moves are watched. Apparently there are diamonds in the sand and if you know what you are looking for you could very well be in a lot of trouble…

Featured in “The Wild West Show” – June 2009. Rhyolite, Nevada is a ghost town just outside the boundary of Death Valley National Park. It was a town built on gold and the hopes and dreams that the precious metal inspires. Founded in 1904 and abandoned only 15 years later in 1919, it was a very short-lived community. These old Cherry Creek ghosts are like my friends – the older and more infirm we each become, the dearer they are to me; the greater my desire to show them in their best light and form. Not polished and painted like aging Hollywood divas; but bearing the sags and scars of their natural ages. Most of them are beyond rehabilitation, now. This was taken at Heritage Square in Golden CO. Heritage Square is at the base of the foothills here in Colorado. It’s filled with victorian style buildings that were once shops, the famous Alpine Slide (which is a slide that goes down a mountain and lots of things for the kids to do. Since the declining economy most of the buildings are now vacant. When I was a kid these shops were filled with lots of cool things to shop for and even some olf Ice Cream and Candy shops…those were the days! / 3 shot HDR processed in Photomatix and then enhanced in LR / Mr Nikon D60 DSLR /

The only untruth of this is that the two children on bikes, though they are real children, do not reside in this town!
