  • Another image in the Abstract Nature series – images created totally in camera with minimal-to-no post processing. This image captures the setting sunlight dancing off spirit trees in the Jarrah forest in Western Australia. This image was Featured in the Impressionist Photography group on 5 August 2009. The challenge for me with this series is to create a visually pleasing abstract image without resorting to using effects in my graphics program. When I do make adjustments to my abstract photography, I limit myself to only minor adjustments in contrast and maybe a smidge of brightness. If the image needs anything more than minor tweakings, it goes into the discard pile!

  • I am suffering from hiking withdrawal, so I thought I would go back and visit some old photographs. This grouse scared hell out of me enroute to Junction Creek Falls last summer- they were so well hidden in the trees that their sudden flight and loud flapping caught me by surprise (its so quiet otherwise in the backcountry!!) but I managed to get a few images with nice bokeh like this one.
